Your TLD is only part of the ranking equation. If you provide relevant and valuable content on the site and you have your onsite optimisation sorted out, you shouldn't have an issue ranking.

For all you nay-sayers, just have a look at the following queries:

http://www.google.com/search?q=spain&pws=0
http://www.google.com/search?q=austria&pws=0
http://www.google.com/search?q=black-friday&pws=0

The downside is that the majority of people associate .info domains with spam, and will often not click on the results.
