Thats one area I never really got into, optimising forums and seeding a brand new forum.
I am guessing like anything its going to be a good deal of hard work.
I like the way Flying Solo did theirs, they had an active readership that was instantly converted to an online forum taking a percentage of the hard work away.
The biggest incentive of all to attract people is good information.
