No, it doesn't matter where you do it so long as the course trainers are recognised by ASIC. The variance in course fees continually amaze me, I've also done another diploma with Finsia and it was enormously expensive.

You'll also have to investigate an AFSL (Australian Financial Services Licence) before giving out financial advice.

Thanks for the feedback. I to have done a Grad Dip through FINSIA, but it wasnt in Fin Planning, and yes it isnt cheap but work paid for it so it didnt hurt my wallet.

As for AFS License - I am thinking of joining an outfit like Professional Investment Services (www.profinvest.com.au) or wealthy frog (www.wealthyfrog.com.au).
