Default Email Counselling - Marketing Ideas and Website Review

Hi all,

I have been running an Email Counselling website for about 12 months now. I am quite happy with results so far but was hoping people could contribute some ideas on the following:
* Review of existing website www.emailcounselling.com.au
* Ideas on business models for bringing in new counsellors (no employees, just independent counsellors)
* Ideas on how best to market (obviously with limited investment!)

I am collecting all my ideas/info at the moment and plan on having a strategy meeting with myself sometime in Feb 2009, once the silly season is over.

I have had a variety of counsellors express interest in participating but want to make sure I get the right people and keep the service personal.

Thanks in advance,

David

Hi David,

Some quick points:

* You really need a more professional website. It's not terrible but could be improved visually. Maybe some images of "caring" people as well. Maybe also some warmer/earthy colours.

* You need a testimonials section. Probably not real names but real feedback.

After a quick 1 minute browse.

Theres me thinking thats what alchohol is for (jokes)

Ask yourself this question:

When someone is searching for help in these areas will they use search terms like "active couselling" or "email counselling" My first reaction is I think not.

I think if you use the following words in your web site you will get more clients:

relationship counselling
professional counselling
online therapy
guidance and counselling
etc, etc

These are the things that people might search on, its then up to you to be able to convince them that counselling via email is the best way to go.

Change the title on your pages (get rid of "Home")
Try and string words together so that they make several different phrases.

EG; Therapy Online relationship Consulting

The above is the best I can think of on the fly but after some thought you may be able to come up with something much better.

As far as design is concerned, I would get your logo looked at, make it bigger and have it align with the other lines.

I am not really a designer but I can tell when something is not right, just cant tell you how to fix it.

I would probably get rid of the secondry menu up the top and make your logo box take up the whole top of the page.

I think the menu systems on either side have nice shades and look good, the "free first email" title is not to my taste, maybe thats a good thing

There are a lot of different font variations as in colours, size and weight which makes it look very busy. Font size is fine by me but others might struggle.

It looks like you're using Joomla - do a search for 'free joomla templates' and find one that is better suited to your site. It took me a while to see your logo as the "Free First Email" banner stood out more than your site name/logo.

Another thing - get rid of the Joomla links on your links page They don't add anything to your site.
