Hi everyone,

I have had my website up for maybe 1 week now. Would love for anyone willing to provide me with soe feedback good or bad, or should I say constructive criticism?

Hi Caroline, gratz on the site launch. My thoughts:

Nice and fast for me. No tech issues or errors. I like the logo and color choices.
Design
  • It's a bit dull.
  • add/enhance Call-to-action with graphical elements to encourage visitors to click, call or whatever you want them to do.
  • There are no photo's. We need eye-candy. Even for cleaning sites!

Also consider varying the font used in a consistent way. Some pages seemed to have a mix of different body text fonts. This can be a bit distracting.

Good luck,
Robbie

Something needs to be done about the text. It doesn't pop so to speak and make me want to read what's on the page.

I agree with the others, it looks dull. But I couldn't say what to do, to change it.

Maybe have your Menu on the left handside more like a sidebar to fill the empty space and take the ABOUT US out of the front page and add as an additional menu. I'm not a fan of too much text on one page, I don't like scrolling down.

Maybe you could also add something like "Now is your chance to declutter your house" - but not in plain text.

Good luck!

Regards,
Mel

HI Carolyn

I agree with most of what has already been said - get some pictures up, make the fonts more consistent and have more attention-grabbing language, especially on the landing page.

My 2-cents is I feel the top bit of your landing page is muddled and disjointed and the "about us" should be a separate tab.

There are plenty of copywriters here who can help

Good luck!

Thank you all so much for your valuable input. I appreciate it very much.

I will endeavour to make changes to the font and add some pictures, maybe change the layout also.

Where do I get pictures from? Off the internet just to make it look good, or go and take pictures at a friend's or relatives house? (If they are willing )

Only thing with the side bar, I have not figured out how to add things in to this area? Not sure that I can...

Any more input is welcome and invited

Thank you again.

you can buy photos from places like photostock and various others...id be careful of just downloading a pic of the net...but people do it all the time...

one thing i noticed with your site, theres no areas covered... what location are you servicing?

Hi Caroline,

It could be just because I am reading this after you have started making some changes - but at your http://www.safeashousescleaning.com.au/services_2.html page, I see boxes that say "your image here" - like there's supposed to be pictures but they're not showing up. Like I said - this could be because you are playing with it at the moment!

As to the pictures to use... there are a couple of sites around that provide free photos for commercial use (no fee, flexibly licensing etc) so maybe try and find one of those, rather than just copying whatever you find, as they could be protected by Copyright.

Further, if you got some of friends' houses, perhaps they would even write you a testimonial? Then you could have a testimonials page with pics and nice comments? Just a thought.

All the best with it

Another thought - it might be good to have a landing page which you can then go off either domestic or commercial - rather that has a long list of all the services combined. That way, you can properly target the separate audiences

Cheers and good luck

Nicole

Caroline - when you make edits to your site, please remember to put the area you service. People will not know where you are situated, state, even country. It's a simple thing, but very useful.

Also, it will help the search engines find you. Remember in keywords to add the suburbs you service.

Cheers.
