Default Updated Website - would love some feedback

I have been working with an SEO guy to update our website and really think i need some honest feedback both on the site and some of the services we are offering.

Let me know what you think. Honest feedback is appreciated. So far we are getting an ok number of hits to the site but for mine, not enough are turning into inquiries.

I look forward to your thoughts.

Hi John,

The site is off to a good start with many more things that could be done SEO wise - one obivous one would be having your site re-coded to a more modern CSS based layout.

On your other point, it's also worth noting that increased traffic does not equal increased leads. SEO is one part of the picture as it only helps get potential leads to your site. Once they're there you need to convince them to contact you/sign up, etc, and that's a whole different ballgame!

You're obviously heading in the right direction by being pro-active though. Good luck with it all!

Cheers,
Joel

So you are getting more visitors.. but they aren't converting into sales or enquiries.. this could be because of a few things;

When they hit your site, nothing interests them.. there is no 'call to action' or at least the call to action doesn't suit the people that are visiting your site.

What keywords has your site been optimised for? Is it book keeping software? or bookkeeping services? Because your call to action on your site is for Software and not services.. so if you have people searching for book keeping services and the call to action on your site is for software... that means your keywords aren't targeted to your action..

Can I ask what are the main search terms your are getting hits for? this might help me work out why your hits aren't converting..

Website stats are critical to effective SEO, you might be getting 1000 hits per day, but NO business - so you need to work out what people are searching for and if you are offering it to them.

We set up an online marketing campaign last week,. spent $1000 and only made one conversion.. so wasnt great, we looked into it and realised that our landing or 'squeeze' page didn't appeal to the people visiting the site.. we re-jigged it and now we have spent less and made much more sales as the campaign was targeted correctly.

So.. just to recap.. look at what sort of traffic you are getting and what they are looking for, and check to see if you have what they want.. if you don't then you need to give it to them, or you are looking in the wrong places for your customers!

I've just had a quick look at your site and the first thing that stood out to me was that I couldn't quickly see what exactly it was that you were offering. I know that all that information is contained somewhere on your site - but it should really be very clear right at the top.

I know that personally, if I can't easily find the information I'm looking for on one website, I'll very quickly go to another.

I'd suggest a well written paragraph at the top to clearly state what services you offer and how that service can benefit your clients.

I hope it all goes well for you.

Hi

I've had a quick look at your site - I like the colours and the fresh, contemporary feel. I would agree with the others who have posted so far, and I would also suggest:

::: Do a very thorough spelling and grammar check. I think typos can be a major detractor from the quality of your site. Within a minute of surfing around your site, I noticed a missing word, a misspelt word, and a question that didn't have a question mark.
::: Shorten your home page to be a succinct summary of your products and services. This allows visitors to quickly understand what your business is about, and then follow through to the most relevant information for them.
::: Go for consistency. Have consistent spacing between paragraphs of the same style (e.g. the orange tick marks), and use the same font throughout. Little details like this enhance the professionalism of your site.
::: De-clutter your home page. Some of the main text is so close to the right border that it almost touches the text or images in the banner strip down the right hand side.
::: Put a caption on the video on the home page. Without knowing what it is I'm about to watch, I probably wouldn't bother clicking to find out. A caption will help me identify if I'm interested, and will encourage me to watch it if I am.
::: Check your tab order. When I typed in the "Name" field for the "Free Quoting and Invoicing Software", I then pressed tab to take me to the next field ("Email"). Instead, I was taken back to the top of the screen, and then had to scroll back down and click in the "Email" field. This was the same for the "September Offers" section.
::: It is unclear what will happen if I download the "Free Quoting and Invoicing Software". It says no strings attached, but I am required to enter my phone number and email address. Will you be contacting people who download this software, or adding them to a mailing list? (I opted out because I wasn't sure, and I think other people will too.)

I hope that's helpful. Good luck!

Jess
