Default Website review

Hi All,

I have recently put together a website that I would appreciate feedback on?
www.flemmingolf.com.au

I would have liked it to be a little more professional looking however the bosses are happy with it. Just would like to know where I could improve it for the future.

Thanks in advance
Graeme

Hi Graeme,

The homepage certainly looks nice, but the heavy use of images means there's not a lot of content to make it search engine friendly. Looking at your source code too and you haven't supplied alt text for your images, which is not only a requirement for writing x-html compliant code but helps with SEO.

I'd suggest getting the text content out of the images, as this will make it a lot easier to update the site in the future. I haven't used visual site designer, but you should be able to specify that certain areas of the page need to be saved as text, rather than an image.

I agree, the text of each page should be text not images, you really should change that, both for SEO and faster loading with sharper text.

Other than that, you've done pretty well. Id treat all images the same, all same borders etc, not some with a 3D look, others without, and keep the Contacts link consistent over all pages, maybe down in the footer (those links arent working, but would be good if they were). Text links are better for SEO and the footer is a perfect place to put links to all pages (as well as your top navigation).

Done well

Thanks for the comments Jill and CameronM.

The reason that I used text as images was that i found some computers didnt recognise the font i was using and so it came up with a different font. Mind you they were old computers.

I think I will change it back to text as you both suggested.

Many thanks
Graeme
