Default Seeking comments on my updated website

Hi all,

I've put a lot of work into my website recently and would appreciate comments on any aspect of the website, or specific products and prices including the new "order online and save $50" specials for business cards, bookmarks, swing tags, postcards and DL cards.

(for the "online specials" see "print pricing" on the left nav area)

Thanks, Leisa

Hi Leisa,
I had a brief look and my notes are as follows:
  • I would prefer the logo and sidebar stand out more. They are really a priority in terms of giving the brain direction, but they get lost in the green header, at least when the window is stretched out to fill the whole screen
  • I look at the front page and get lost. Perhaps it could do with a short list of key product offerings (logo design, business cards, stationary etc.)
  • I think package deals are a great idea
  • Do you offer to send out free samples? I know that when I was sourcing printers for items for my marketing agency, I only went for companies of which i could get samples from

Now off to watch the footy. Hope that helps!

Cheers,
Mike

Hi Leisa,

OK, here are my thoughts...
  1. Whilst you have some really good deals; it is very hard to see where they are (I think the home page maybe a little too busy)
  2. I quite like your graphics, especially the guitar playing guy on the home page looks cool.
  3. I think the logo should also take you back to the home page when clicked on, and if anything should be a little more prominent.
  4. The rollover menu (top right) gets in the way of scrolling sometimes
  5. There is a problem with the cart total which partially covers your logo once you add products to the basket.

I hope I am not being too picky; these are only my personal thoughts, and I'm sure others will have differing opinions. All in all, there is plenty of good content on your site though.

General layout not bad I think but text is too crowded - need breaks and paragraphs and too much underlining.

On the home page there is just too many links. The main written content could do without the hyperlink underlining.

Hi Mike, thank you so much for your suggestions, they're just the kind of feedback I needed - I've printed out your message as a "things to do" list for myself next time I work on the website. (I do offer free samples but now I realise I need to make that obvious so people don't have to dig around for the info).

Hi Leisa,

I just made a very similar comment in another post regarding a website. You need to work out what you want the customer to do!

1) Be Found
2) Follow the trail. Think of the Easter Egg Hunt. You had to follow clues to get the Eggs. The easier it was, the quicker you got the eggs. As you are selling items, it has to be stupidly easy or people will give up and go somewhere else.

Sketch out a path that you want prospects to follow. Follow the KISS principle. That is, Keep it simple stupid! It works every time.

Keep all the information, its good, but organise it better. Then install some stats software (google analytics is excellent) so that you can see what is working/where people have clicked etc.

Cheers

Hi Leisa,
Have to concur with the majority of other comments...my Personal views are that there is too much information on the home page. Content is great but it is a bit difficult to navigate. Was also wondering whether there was provision to design your cards online as part of the order process...had a quick look but couldn't find it.

If you get a chance, I'd appreciate your feedback on our website which we are in the process of updating...

Cheers,

Thanks so much for the advice, it's all very helpful - and interesting to think about what other's see when they look at my website.

Gareth - "You need to work out what you want the customer to do!" is an excellent point, and I'll work on that as a priority, along with making the home page less busy.

Hi, happy to return the favour so you can improve your site too...

- words on black nav bar are small and hard to read, suggest changeing font to Arial and a size bigger
- Is the Recession impacting on your business? I'd make this stand out more, and have it close to the top of the page
- the clouds pic is a bit overwhelming, I'd like to see the banner as business name and tagline only on a more relevant pic, put contact details in the body
- Overall I think make it look cleaner, more "corporate" but still will attractive photos

Hope this helps,

Leisa
