Default Two ideas for Flying Solo.

Hi guys,

I have had two ideas for FS that have been rattling around in my head for a while which I have finally decided to share.

1. Swap the Thanks and Like. When you post, it mentions how many times you have been thanked. The problem is that most people hit the Like button because it's much more visible. Could we swap that so that we see how many times our posts have been liked? Or swap the Thanks and Like button around?

2. Once you get to Power member, there is no more levels. Could you create some more? One for 500 posts, 1000 posts and 2000 posts?

Thanks!

Hahaha.

Something like 'The mayor' for 100 and 'The godfather' for 2000.

Good point. I never even realised there was a thanks button! Probably make sense to swap the share and thanks button, so like and thanks are right there.

Like and Thanks and Share should all be on the same line.

Thanks Matt,
Great ideas thanks!

1. I know we had some issues wrestling the thanks and like buttons into their current locations (two separate plugins) but we'll see what can be done.

2. I think your extra member levels idea is brilliant The levels were set some years ago at launch when we were simply dreaming of getting 1000 posts in total on the boards, let alone any individual hitting 1000 (ahem Wendy )

I'll talk these through with the others when we're next together and give you an update in the next week or two.

Thanks again, love your work!
Peter and all ...

Hi all,
This is a very timely idea from Matt, given that our illustrious 1000-post club has a new inductee... Wendy Flack from Couple It, the sixth member of the forum to join the 1000+ ranks. (Yay Wendy!)

In case you're not familiar with the levels Matt is talking about in his original post, currently Power Member status is given to forumites with over 250 posts. Matt has suggested names such as "Mayor" for those with 1000 posts and "Godfather" for 2000, but we're thinking "Platinum" and "Grand Platinum" might be the way to go. We're even pondering titles for 500 and 200.

We'd love to know what you think, and if we end up using your suggestion we'll send you a free copy of our book. Now there's an offer you can't refuse

Put your thinking caps on please folks, we're super-keen to hear your ideas.

Love your work,
Jayne and the FS Crew

I just realised I am one of those with over 1000 posts ... not sure whether that is a good thing? Perhaps I should not have checked in so often?

Congrats on having this kind of problem. Having so many contributions from everyone is a nice 'problem' to have.

Cheers.

Sorry not really my cuppa tea. Been around the Net for too long, so don't really give a hoot for post counts and grandiose titles.
In my opinion Flying Solo gets equal value from first time posters and from the 'experienced'.

So I'd vote for keeping the titles grounded.

Isn't the number of likes the real benchmark?

When I read something here that I think is on the money I have no qualms about hitting the like button for the poster.

As FS matures isn't quality content where we should be heading and not the quantity of posts?

In contrast, the thanks button should be considered as a courtesy button which is sometimes lacking here... mostly from new members and just plain "blow throughs".
