    Hi,

Apologies in advance if this had been discussed before.

My niece used Tripod to build her site and hosting etc. I am after a one pager with photos as introduction and possibly a blog or pages for interviews etc for a start. How much MB do I need?

    Has anyone used Tripod before?

Tripod is great for beginners wanting to have their own free website. It depends on how large each image would be. If your typical compressed image was 100KB each. Then you should easily use <10MB of total space.

Tripod does have limitations. You might not be able to run PHP/MySQL based scripts.

If you truly want web hosting without many limitations on web space and bandwidth, then it is best to go for a paid web host.

Most paid web hosts will offer cPanel which is an industry leading control panel in the web hosting industry. With cPanel there is Installatron and Fantastico which both are one click script installers. So you can conveniently install blogging scripts such as WordPress.

    This is just my 2cents.

    http://wordpress.com/

Is your best bet, it's free and it's easy to get setup and use. There are tons of video tutorials around too. You can have a blog and have it look like a normal site also. You can pick and choose templates there are thousands.

Slunkur is right if you want more flexability then you should go for paid host, but for something simple wordpress is excellent.

Also there is Blogger which is owned by Google. This too is a free service.

Thank you Relentless and Slunkir. I was tossing between WordPress and Tripod. I will look at some other solutions when my venture makes some profit.
