This is likely to be only for specific clients but may occur several times throughout a project. It may only be required once or twice a year, or every two years.

After checking with my bank about the merchant set up fees (which seemed exorbitant for the purpose), and some web searching I registered with PayPal (standard). It's a great option it seems as I can send out invoices that have links for either credit card or PayPal account payment. All went well for the first invoice, but not for the second, as the client was prompted to register for PayPal - something they did not want to do. After many emails to PayPal it seems that this is the rule - the client can only use a credit card for one payment without having a PayPal account.

Can anyone provide me with advice to solve this problem? What is the best option when I only need to take credit card payments very rarely?

Cheers, Mark.
I have people using PP for CC multiple times

That's good news after all the correspondence with PayPal. How do I get that to work with my PayPal account?

Cheers, Mark.

Have a look at live eftpos (www.liveeftpos.com.au)

free machine rental
no joining fee
no contract
no monthly fees
quick setup

support from Sam is good.

we're hit with 2.5% transaction fee. that's it.
it's not tied to any particular bank

Did try PayMate a few years back, found their fees were not very friendly - worse than PP at the time. The seller could accept the full fees which amounted to about 15%, or they were unevenly split between buyer & seller.
Not aware if it's still the same as I have not used them since.
