Default Cheap postage - domestic and international

Hi all,

Our business does over 100 postages a month, domestically and internationally combined.
We currently use fastway for domestic and Auspost for international postages. We feel the international postage by Auspost is quite large and was wondering if anyone can give feedback regarding which is a better company to use?

Kind regards,
Paul

Hi,
We sell clothing garments weighing between 1-1.5kg.

Who do you use for international postage as we are trying our best to reduce that cost to give international buyers.

Hi Paul,

Your International costs are definitely too high.
The way to lower them is through contract agreements with either Aus Post or a courier company. What happens on a contract is that you will have a unit price and a weight price. this needs to be documented when you send the items and with Aus post every gram counts. The rate you are paying is to cover the entire weight category so for a parcel 1.251kg you pay for sending 1.5kg. Say you have 10 of these. you will pay for an extra 2.5kg you don't have to.

If you email me your location, and details of how many Internationals you have sent in the past quarter then i can work out a way for you to save a bundle.

Just bumping this thread.

We have realised that fastways is our best option for domestic postage. We would now like to lower our prices for international postages.

Any thoughts about lowering costs for this?

Thanks,
Paul

Contact a sales rep at Aus Post, or look at a company called Spring Mail, they are located in sydney airport... Aus post will set up an account with you for a minimum spend, this is why I was asking what volumes you are sending. I have had a min at $5000 year, but I'm sure they can go lowerer even if the rate they give you is close to non contract, point is that you get the unit and weight system not the weight category. Spring mail use the unit and weight system as well so get a quote on both, then decide. Issue with spring is that you will have to send out in large quantities, ie once a month. Aus post you can send one package at a time. or contact a mail house and see how much they would be willing to do lodgment for you. Lindsay Yates has a good account, they are in Artarmon 9089 9642(ron) you will have to do monthly lodgments there too.

good luck

There is an easy solution – get your Australian postage stamps at 35% discount.

I am a stamp dealer in New Zealand and we get quantities of new Australian stamps we don't need, but you Australians can use.

The only catch is that they are various different face values and you sometimes need to make up your postage rate with two or several stamps.

A small added bonus is that people love getting a range of amazing stamps on their letters and parcels.

Apologies for the blatant advertising, but it solves a problem for both of us.

Cheers,
Ashford Stamps

Hi Paul, based on the size package you are sending than Fastway is definitely your cheapest option, especially on the East Coast. May differ if sending to places other than the East Coat as this is where they need to use third party carriers to deliver.

When comparing carriers for International, you may find better pricing for some countries with one and then another carrier has better pricing for other countries. So the catch with doing a contract with a carrier is that you need to spend a certain amount per month which doesn't allow you to shop around to take advantage of this.

I am an independent freight consultant with access to all the main carriers via our online booking so if you are open to looking at the flexibility this offers you whilst still keeping the price down let me know
