Default Need a (basic) Confidentiality Agreement

Hi All,

A client has asked me to prepare a Confidentiality Agreement. I think we need something pretty basic. She is an unpublished author who has asked me to edit her manuscript.

If I was to write something myself could I be confident it would stand up in the unlikely event of a dispute?

Alternatively if I was to build/download one with our relevant details from one of the myriad websites (there looks to be stacks of them for around the $50 mark) that offer this service, would they realistically offer much more protection than if I was to write it myself.

I don't really want to have to use a solicitor if I can avoid it (for reasons of timing as much as cost), but will happily do so if the experts think this is necessary.

Hi Tracey
A timely question as I am looking for the same thing. Let me know if you find anything interesting. I will also have a look at IP Australia.
Cheers

Lindy, I've just produced an Agreement from the link Fletcher Tax provided, and it took literally 2 minutes. I've had a read through it and it looks good to me. I think my client will be happy with it.

Hi Tracy
Thanks for your reply - I tried to download this but as I have a MacBook Pro which is GREAT, this is a windows program and won't execute. Will keep looking for something compatible.
Cheers

Lindy, send me a PM and I will send one that I have used for many years (originally from a Commonwealth Gov Department, so it is OK).
