The Facebook fan page hands down!

Fan pages can tailored to do what you want, you can have custom tabs, write your own apps for them, feed data from your website into them and you can embed fan pages 'wall' onto your website with fan boxes, have photos run discussions, competitions.. you name it!

You can easily promote via a fan page using status updates which then get fed into your friends news feeds, as well as share links, videos etc a lot easier with fan pages

I agree fan pages are great. It just a matter of finding interesting info and attracting new fans.

Talking about using new media we are currently using a blog site and facebook to great effect with a competition we are running in South Africa. It is going off, and now it has hit twitter, so seems to be growing exponentially.

Have a look at the below link if you like and see the great result and feedback we are getting;
South Africa Blog - Hammock Competition

First time we have tried something like this and amazed at how quick and effective this is.

Mexham, its great your are promoting through facebook, but make sure you read the new terms and conditions regarding competitions..

http://www.facebook.com/promotions_guidelines.php

There is a blog post here that helps interpret them..
http://inklingmedia.net/2009/11/face...ll-businesses/

The new competition rules only came into effect a month ago.. and have made a huge impact on how companies used to use Facebook as a marketing medium.. so its worth checking them out.

Opps, bugger, I didn't know about that. Thanks a lot for the links. Actually all of it has pretty much been setup by the blogmaster, but I have posted the links on my profile and fan page to so I wonder if they will zap me!

Anyone see our hammock and hammock stand on the TODAY show by any chance?

Cheers, Mike

Hi Mike

Your hammock looked AWESOME on TV this morning and as soon as I saw it I thought "Oooh! I recognise that hammock stand! I bet that's Mike's!"

Great PR for you, they said such groovy things about your product! Hope it gets you lots of sales for Christmas

Well done!
Jayne

Hi Jayne,

Wohoo! Glad you saw us. It was great to have our products shown there, but unfortunately our company name or website was never mentioned so while we got a few sales, not the explosion that we were originally excited about when contacted to have our products on the show.

All good though, things are going great.

Thanks, have a great Christmas
Mike
