Default New Bookkeeping Business

Hi All,

Let me introduce myself - my name is Richard Gough and I have just started a bookkeeping and financial analysis business called Gough Morgan.

We specialise in bookkeeping for small business as well as provide financial analysis and business development in Melbourne.

Our bookkeepers are all qualified as practicising members of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers and are also compliant to prepare and lodge BAS on behalf of our clients.

We provide three levels of service depending on our clients requirements - these services are a fixed rate rather than the old time billing method which clients tend to be quite wary of so i'd be grateful for any feedback on this??

Check out our website www.goughmorgan.com.au

Cheers,

Richard

Hi Richard,

I was just trawling and saw your post - so don't expect all posts to be answered so fast :-)

Welcome to the forums - you should find some excellent conversations and relationships here.

BTW, check out the Referrals topics as many people seem to be looking for bookkeepers and accountants.

Kevin

Hi mate,

Nice to meet you. I still work as an accountant by day. Mid-Tier Firm - small business work. Financials, BAS's, Payroll Tax, FBT, Income Tax etc. you get the idea.

First off, I hope you didnt pay anyone for that website. I'm going to be brutally honest and say, your website makes your business look as old as the hills, not anything like a new start-up.

Black text on a dark grey background? Seriously?

A pixelated photo, Title, still called "Page Title"

Come on dude, its the 21st century now. I hope you dont have the site address in any of your marketing material currently. It needs work.

Pay a few bucks and get something better done.

I'm just saying...

You'll come to like me. WELCOME!

Hey, Welcome to the forums.

Sorry but I'm going to have to agree with iMack!

I spoke to a client recently about their website, and was brutally honest with them. They were better off not having one! Same stands for you, replace that with a "business card" website, get a professionally done one, or just pull it down.

If I was a potential customer, I would not use you based on that website.

All the best, don't hate us!

Cheers,
Chris

Welcome !

I'm always on the look out for a more affordable book-keeper and accountant for my solo enterprise (self employed)...

however

I have to join in with everyone else in saying that it would be best to NOT have a website than to have the bad one that you have online.

A website is nearly more important than your physical business card these days. Think of it as a shop front even if you are selling services not actual goods.... would you enter a shop that looked half finished or was a bit messy ?

Thats always a good start Richard,

If you want to update your site there are two easy options:
- post a message on the Referrals topic in this forum, as there are some great web people here; or
- join elance.com and post a project on there - you will get a bunch of bids that you can choose from.

Kev

Welcome Richard, that is very good advice. With the availability and to be able to outsource , we soloists can let the experts deal with those areas that have a grey tinge about them.
Justlook at your business your clients are outsourcing bookkeeping to you because they really dont like doing figures or dont have the time.

That is what this forum is about also not only for Mentoring, but networking and friendship. There is always someone on this forum concidering there are over 3700 members that will be able to help in some shape or form.

So enjoy the journey with us.
