Everyone needs to know a good photographer, right?!

Hi Everyone,

I've only just discovered the flying solo forums and think they are a great idea.

I am always looking to expand my networks and would love the opportunity to do so through forums like these.

I am a photographer based in Melbourne (however, I do love to travel!) Even though I've been a photographer for some time now, I am finding I learn so much "flying solo"! I have an extensive background working with commercial clients. However, I am now embracing variety and photograph weddings, portraits as well as commercial applications. I really enjoy working with other small businesses as I love working directly with the client.


So if you'd like to include a photographer in your network, exchange business ideas, or would like any photography tips don't hesitate to contact me!

Any advice is always greatly appreciated too!

I've checked out your website (yep, I'm very nosey) and love your photos, especially the black and white versions. Anyway, I'm sure I'll hear more about you as I'm following you on Twitter. ;-)

I'm still finding the whole 'followers' thing a bit creepy and even likened Twitter to a cult on my blog (grin): http://www.risingstardesigns.com.au/...-the-cult.html. However, I am looking forward to having some time to figure out how to manage all the data from the feeds and sorting out this '@' business. In the meantime, I'd better get back to some client work!

I am not completely sure about Twitter either. I’ve really only just started using it and I find the concept kind of strange. However, I guess you can’t mock it till you’ve tried it... so here goes!

Glad you think similarly on the photography thing. I think professional photos on a website portray a professional image. I might be biased but I just cringe when I see amateur photos illustrating a personality or product on a professionally designed website.

Is your website link the old or the new website? How did you find using word press for your website? I am thinking I will eventually turn my blog, into my website/blog through wordpress... maybe...

Yes just about every one needs a photographer as some stage in their life.
I understand the equipment nowadays is very technical.
When I have mastered my 'Box Brownie' I was thinking of becoming a professional.
Would you recommend I become professional or should I remain a happysnapper?

No worries, Liz! Did I mention that I love photography? Anyway, I also loved your 'can't mock it till you've tried it'. The copywriter in me reckons that could work as a slogan for a design company. ;-)

Now, and this may be a subject for a new post, but I'd also love to hear some thoughts on Wordpress as a full-blown website (not 'just' a blog). By the way, Geoffrey, your Wordpress (yeah?) website looks great. I use Joomla for CMS, but I'm always exploring new options.

Hey Mike C,

Thanks, glad you like my stuff. Tried to take a look at yours but the site is taking a while to load- thought you might like to know (I've got fast internet too) so something might be up...

All of the above to equipment, especially backup body and flash.
I am Canon but Nikon is useable too

I'd say most importantly though is the knowhow... Personally I think an investment in study is just as important.
