Default Manly Network

Hi fellow soloists,

I'm new to this website, and I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this, so if there is a better place, please feel free to educate me.

Next month (Feb) I'll be relocating to the Manly area in NSW. "So what?" I hear you ask

I'm keen to meet fellow soloists in the Manly area, learn of their specialties/capabilities and start up a network of people to enable me to service my clients better. Meaning that, if my client has a need that I can not satisfy because I don't possess the skill set required, I'd like to be able to suggest a number of alternative consultants/businesses in the area that are able to assist, and have the credentials, experience and results.

If you are like minded, please drop me an e-mail at Gavin.Services@gmail.com so we can arrange to have coffee in the area. (I'm also looking to find out where the good coffee places are )

Regards,
Gavin.

Hi Gavin,
Welcome to the forums and thanks for posting. What a great time of year to move to Manly!

There is some great advice and also some links to some networking organisations on this thread:

All the best with the move and the business.
Cheers,
Peter

Hi Gavin,

Welcome to the beautiful Northern Beaches!

I have been thinking about creating a networking group in the area, mostly as an informal 'water-cooler' style group where you can get together with people in business and just discuss the sorts of things you'd discuss with your work colleagues if you were back in the corporate world. Time being limited, this is something completely on the back burner at the moment.

I am a member of more formal groups that I use both for networking and for gathering information so I didn't really want something that was formal, structured or necessarily about business as such. I was thinking that it would be good to have a group of people who are all in business, experiencing similar things and just get together to have a chat about life in general and business if it came up. I'm a firm believer that a less formal style of networking, the way it's done in the corporate world (oh, I know a guy who does that, you should give him a call...) is the best way to network and I'm also accutely aware of the solitude solo business life can bring, so finding people you just get on with who happen to be in business would be an ideal group for me.

If that sounds like the sort of thing you were thinking of then I'm definitely interested in catching up for a coffee. And, there are absolutely tons of places around here for great coffee! Just drop me a message through the forum or via my website, and that goes equally for anyone else in the area.

Regards

Karen

Hi Karen,

Thanks for the welcome, and yes that is exactly what I was looking for, an informal group of professionals that can call upon each other for advice and expertise. I should be available after the 9th Feb, so let me know when a good day/time suits.

Cheers,
Gavin.

Hi Gavin and Karen

I logged onto Flying Solo this afternoon with the specific intention of asking whether anyone would like to form a Manly coffee club / informal networking group, so I am thrilled that you have beaten me to it!

I would love to join you if I can, and look forward to introducing Gavin to some of the fine cafes around here.

Thanks for getting this started - I will email you offline to confirm details.

Jayne

Why dont we combine it to make the Sydney Network & coffee club. Sounds good to me and I can get a ferry across ( $2.50) Mobile 0419424130

Hi there I just joined this forum today looking for the same thing around the manly area. I've found that being a young business owner can be quite isolating and so I decided to look for ways to meet other like minded people.

I have a pretty flexible schedule and would love to catch up for a coffee if you are actually doing this now

Hi all,

I've recently signed up to flying solo after recently taking the big step to go out on my own in the world of IT&T Recruitment.

I'm located in Manly, I realise the previous notes were made sometime ago but wondered if anyone was still around to meet for a coffee and have a chat?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Steve Bett
