Default Favourite movie thread

Every forum of note has to have one, its an unwritten rule!

I might as well start then:

1) The Big Labowski
2) Captain Ron

Whenever I am feeling down or need a bit of a g up, I pop the Big Labowski in and all my problems disappear.

I reckon I have seen it about 70 odd times, and Captain Ron about 30 odd.

'The World According to Garp' for me. I could watch it every week.
One minute I'm p*ssing myself laughing, the next I'm crying like a baby....

Then any music DVD's Im not really a movie buff, my wife is but a live concert DVD gives me all the zip I need.

There was a movie I saw with Jack Nicholson and Dianne Keeting had a good laugh but cant remember the movie title.

Ahhhh, Titanic!!! I have only watched it once and all I can think of when I consider watching it again is all those bodies everywhere - yeh, and bodies falling off the Big Boat into the water. Not quite my idea of an uplifting story.

My choices?

Anything Lord of the Rings, films (even the how it's made is exciting), books and music (I have the FULL music of the films on LOTS of CDs including audio DVD versions in surround sound).

Also any movies of the Jane Austin novels.

Plus a few like Master and Commander, Dances With Wolves,,,, give me time I'll come up with more!

I've got to admit I haven't seen half the movies that you guys have mentioned. I can't split my favourites. It would be between:

- Shawshank Redemption
- The Matrix
- Anchorman
- Top Gun

Sounds like Something's Gotta Give:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0337741/

was quite funny - probably wouldn't put it in my top 10 though :(

How about "The Notebook" for a soppy girly movie? ;)

Does that mean we should start the "never ending" or "one word/line story" thread?

And:
1) Dude, where's my car?
2) Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Personally, I don't think so - but I have been thinking that maybe it would be good to have a business book review thread or something like that. What do you think?

We've had a few threads on the 4-Hour Work Week and Gerber and Drucker, (and of course the FS book by Robert and Sam!), but there is so much else out there... good and bad!

Thoughts? Anyone got a good book review to start a new thread with?

Jayne
