Thu 8 Apr - Brisbane meet-up at Newmarket

Good morning all!

I'm organising a Brisbane meet-up for Flying Soloists on Thursday 8th April. I have a venue in mind - Toscani's Newmarket (next to the Newmarket pub) so although it's not in the city, it's not far from it and there's easy - free - parking.

It will start at 11.30am and all business owners and hopeful business owners are welcome. There is no charge to attend, but I'll update this thread with details of a lunch special closer to the date.

I think lunch is a good idea because there's no reason why we can't kill two birds with one stone and eat while we talk (or is that talk while we eat?). Pretty sure lunch there is $22 for two people (an absolute bargain at $11 each!). That's the current special but I'll make sure it's locked in before the date.

This event will go ahead whether there are 2 people or 20 but I need numbers in order to be fair to the restaurant and make a proper booking.

Wouldn't you know it, I'm attending a presentation until 1130am that was supposed to be the 9th. They rescheduled this afternoon (must have sensed that I was going out for lunch)!

Still, I'll have little problem in slinky out early.

Ah well, I was going to make it for 10am but we all have to eat and it seems more productive to combine a bit of socialising with business, and top up the stomachs at the same time.

Hi all

I've also had a couple of RSVP's via email so there will be another 2-3 attending. If this event turns out to be a success - and why wouldn't it, right?!! - then we can hold them monthly. It's not just a chance to network and meet other Flying Soloists, but an opportunity to discuss what's working for you and not working for you in your business and get constructive feedback from others. All under a Flying Solo banner and we can come back to the forum and outline what happened when we met in person

By all means, bring your business cards and perhaps even a page copied for each attendee that outlines what you do and if you're running any specials. That way, we all take home some information about what the others do (business cards are sometimes a little limiting in terms of information), and can keep you in mind for when friends and other associates ask: "Do you know someone who can ...?"
