Default Brisbane Flying Solo lunch a huge success!

What a great get-together we had yesterday; it was the biggest turnout ever! 17 of us mingled, chatted, networked and laughed ... oh and ate some great food from Toscani's Newmarket. Here's a list of who attended:

Seriously, it's a great get-together, and a wonderful networking opportunity. I'm always amazed at who clicks with each other and the things people discover they have in common, either personally or professionally! Put a group of strangers in a room, add some food, drinks and a convivial atmosphere and good things just happen!

Stay tuned for news of the next one in a month's time!

Thanks to all who attended!! I look forward to seeing you again.

It was a great lunch and was fantastic to get to mingle with everyone. Unfortunately there wasn't enough time in my day to get to sit and talk to each and every one of you, but looking forward to the next one.

It was a pleasure having you along, Cat! Plenty more coming up and I'll work on a venue that will be easier for mingling next time .

Hi Gina and other Brisbane lunch-goers,

Thanks for the update - it's fabulous to learn that you're all getting so much from your lunches and that the group is growing month by month.

And thank you for posting the photos too. Great lighting in your shots, by the way ;-)

Best,
Jayne

How do you hear about these lunches.

I'd love one in Adelaide!

Hi Tiggerito,

Gina organises the Brisbane lunches of her own bat, and has made a great success of them

I'm sure if you were keen on running one in Adelaide you'd find a few takers.

Maybe start a thread in the SA section of the http://www.flyingsolo.com.au/forums/...-local-groups/ part of the forum and ask folk to let you know if they'd be keen to get one off the ground.

If you decide to go ahead, we'll help as much as we can with tweets, facebook posts and the like.

Happy networking,
Jayne

Thanks for the comments, everyone .

One piece of advice I can give you, Tiggerito ... ok, a couple of pieces ...

Promote it well. As time goes by, I'm learning to promote the event more effectively, and that now means a dedicated newsletter to people in Brisbane and surrounds, Twitter, Facebook and mentioning on sites such as Flying Solo.

The other very important thing is to hold it even if only one other person turns up. Sometimes people don't RSVP, and arrive unannounced. I've started insisting upon RSVPs, just in case the time/date/venue changes. But I also believe in honouring the event 100% so if turnout is low, it can't be cancelled as people have committed their time to attending.

Hope that helps. I really enjoy creating my networking groups and everyone always has a great time!
