Gold Coast Lunch = official thread

I'm going to post to this thread in regards to the informal lunch / get together for the Gold Coast Soloist and Micro Business community :-)

First lunch will be held on Monday October 18th

Where? Coffee "shop" on the Ground Floor of Corporate Centre in Bundall

When? 12noon sharp start until 1pm

What to bring: You (and any other solo or micro business people), 4 business cards and $$ for coffee or a snack (please support the coffee shop business that is allowing us to 'host' by using the business).

Purpose: Get to know other soloists in your community in a friendly, relaxed, informal more intimate manner ... (for free - no memberships required, fees to be paid, etc)

I'm just offering a way for those of us who are a bit time poor, have our networking budgets spread thin enough (with other memberships), and/or wanting to meet others in a smaller group type of setting/manner etc a way to meet up :-D

It's free. All it will cost is your time and some $$ to buy a tea or coffee (to support the business that is allowing us to "gather").

I know I can't be the only micro business that has her networking budget spread thin with other membership fees ..... and just would like a more relaxed, informal, casual, social "get to know people as people not just businesses" type of meeting ... with other people who are soloists and/or micro business owners.

Whilst it is only an hour - it is not strict. If you can only make the last 15 mins, please still turn up as I'll be there from 12noon until 1pm ... and there might be others who may want to "linger". If you can only come for a quick coffee n chat ... then so be it :-) Come say HI ! :-)


Please remember four business cards maximum are allowed. I'll explain the reason behind this "rule" at the lunch :-)

I'll be there this Monday even if I am the only person there. I'll most likely be wearing a grey t-shirt and jeans (planned my outfit already LOL!!!) ... with sunnies on her head :-)

Thank you to Stephanie Kerr (Clinical Hypnosis Specialist) for coming along. I hope you enjoyed yourself :-) as it was a real pleasure to meet you too !

These lunches are informal, relaxed and fun. Dress nice but you don't need to bring a suit or anything Both Stephanie and myself liked the location thus we agreed that the 'hub' of these lunches will happen at this cafe within the Corporate Centre.

I spoke with the cafe owner and she's quite happy to be on board with us. All she asks is that you bring some $$ to buy a coffee or snack.

Thus the next lunch (I hope we have as great weather as we did today as it was a lovely view) will happen at the same location, same time, same date - the THIRD Monday of every month.

November 15th is the date. I'll be there 12noon until 1pm no matter if one or many people turn up as I do like the cafe.

As Stephanie said, for those who used to work in the corporate world, it might give you flashbacks however hopefully the venue will serve as inspiration as to WHY you left that world. Why you are a soloist or micro business owner.


This lunch is about getting to know people as people not just business owners. So we'll discuss personal topics as well as business... whatever you desire.

You can stay for the full hour or 10 mins... just come along

Hi, this sounds like a great idea, I'm based on the Gold Coast and would love to meet up - unfortunately I've missed today's lunch as I was working in Sydney and have just noticed the post, but I've added the 15 November luncheon to my calendar so there's no excuses - see you then and congratulations on starting the Gold Coast 'meet-up'.

You can stay for 15 minutes or two hours - totally up to you.

This is NOT about your business. This is about you as a person.

You can chat about business topics however also find a common ground. Stephanie and myself talked about cats/animals for instance then got on the topic about her biz.. and networking groups I liked and why etc.
