What would interest YOU!?

I'm trying to raise some cash so I can put it towards getting the final things I need to officially launch my business and recently I decided to try out offering "$200 WordPress Integrations" via my sig for people with existing sites that wanted them integrated within WordPress; unfortunately I didn't have any interest whatsoever with that offer.

So..... before coming up with another idea to try I thought I would ask everyone else what kind of offer would interest them!?

What kind of offer would entice you to give me a go?

do you have any websites you can show ... people tend to be a bit wary not being able to see some examples...

was it you who had agancy experience but they wouldnt let you use the work on folio? maby a link to said agency..."i worked at ..." so people can see they are a decent agency and therefore your work will also be decent...

I saw this is your sig and was meaning to drop you an email at the time.

It sounds a good offer but I have no idea what it actually means so I think that could have been part of the problem in terms of the lack of interest.

If I already have a website why do I want to have it integrated into wordpress? What are the advantages of doing this? How will it help me with my business? etc etc.

I would suggest you try offering this again but spell out in simple terms what you are offering, who it is for, what they will gain by integrating their site with wordpress. Remember a large number of people won't know much about wordpress let alone why they want to integrate with it.

heres a great idea that might get stolen by someone on here, cause really, its that good and if i had the inclination to do this myself, i would.

there is a HUGE market in stay at home/mummy/parent bloggers. huge i tell you. trust me, im entwined in it, and see it first hand.

many of these mummy bloggers use blogger or wordpress.com or something hosted. see the opportunity here?

most need to go to self hosted wordpress platforms stat. a lot have got great traction and big audiences and are now starting to find the limitations of their current platform.

some have tried to change and have failed.

so have a service that can do that for them.

Hey mate.... naaa that wasn't me that worked at the agency. I have worked for another company before, but it wasn't an agency, and they went bankrupt so they aren't around anymore anyway.

But to address your concerns, I'm not really expecting anyone to hire me for any big jobs until they CAN see my website and/or portfolio, however that is what I am trying to raise the cash for - so I can officially launch my business (and website to go along with it).

So basically I'm just trying to come up with some small ideas to help raise the cash, already taken on a casual nightfill job to help, but still playing catchup unfortunately.

Hi Dave.... you make some valid points. That is the key reason why I linked the offer in my sig to a separate page on my website that explained it more; although I guess if people aren't overwhelmed to click the link in the first place they won't read any more what it's about will they!?

Not easy trying to jam a lot into a sig, I'll see if I can offer it again and try and be a bit more descriptive this time.

Haha not a bad idea Dex, but I feel the marketing required for that would be far more than what I can use my sig for and I'd probably need my website already up to elaborate how I can help them etc

zero marketing.

hope onto forums, parenting forums, and introduce yourself.

be nice and genuinely help them out. do your service for a fee, but not extravagant and you'll get the business.

do you research but there are huge tribes of mummy bloggers. you just need to look, be nice, pitch, and come through with the goods.

if you have added services like hosting etc, you can include those also.

you dont even need a website setup. just tell them youre starting up, you doing this for a bargain price, and provide lots and lots and lots of help.

theyll be yours for life.

Haha I get what you're saying man but with regards to seeking them out on parenting forums etc; thing is, my experience with forums is that joining them for the sole purpose of trying to sell them stuff is frowned upon... and I agree, it would look bad. I certainly wouldn't have anything to add to the forum lol.. so would just be there to market my services.

I guess my copy sucks then haha

Well let me try and explain it a little better.... say you have an existing website right. How are you currently going about updating it? Are you paying your web developer to update it for you? Struggling to do it yourself and meanwhile making a mess of the code?

Integrating the site within a CMS such as WordPress gives you the ability to update the website yourself via a simple admin panel, even add extra simple pages to the site.

Is that a little better?

$200 for a wp conversion seems a good price...is that what your business will be?

if you are offering web dev as your service where are the costs in setting up your own site?

That is way better, but drop the words integrate, and cms. Saying you integrate the site is just all technical and confusing. Maybe convert is a better word because I assume that is what you are doing? You and I of course know what a cms is but not everyone out there knows what it is - just stick with what people will gain from having their site using wordpress.

"I will convert your site to use wordpress which means you can easily update the site yourself saving you a lot of money and hassles" etc etc.
