Unthink - New Social media site

Hey Flying Soloers

Have any of you heard of Unthink - (www.unthink.com)? They are marketing themselves as the anti Facebook.

I am going to sign up and play around with it.

Essentially their model is that you own your data, you can choose who advertises on your page (or noone at all) and promotes businesses that put people before profits and make a positive contribution to society & the environment.

I am not so militant as others about privacy/data security etc but it is an interesting concept.

The clunkiness of the website would scare me off.

I've been following Dispora for a while who are doing a similar thing. www.joindiaspora.com

But it would be a hell of a job to take any of the market share from Facebook, especially when Google's already having a go.

If you want to be anti-facebook - simply don't use it and don't mention it - creating another website won't help. Facebook will eventually become what it's suppose to be - place to share and communicate with your friends when you need it most, not on 24/7 basis.

@novnik, yeah I am actually not militantly anti-Facebook, anti-Google etc but the fact that some people are means I am interested in sites like these for attracting customers I might not reach in other mediums.

though id much rather tinker with actual social media sites, rather than unsocial media sites.

but it is an interesting concept.
