Default Anyone used Prospects Unlimited? Residential

Hi, I am interested in this service as they say they can do this
"The core dataset available is:

First and Last name
Address, Suburb, State and Post Code
Telephone number (where available)
Mobile number (where available)
DPID (where available)

Need more Detail?

In addition to our core dataset, the following information is available:

Home Ownership
Age Bands
Income Bands
Presence of children within the household"

Which would surely take out some of the guessing in a letterbox drop? Anyone else used them? Any thoughts? Is it expensive?

Hi Jazzah,

I have not used them before, the company I have used is DSA Datasolutions. One of the great things about there data, is they actually provide credits back for any incorrect records, which allows them to keep the data very accurate and fresh.

With things such as household income, presence of children etc. this information is compiled from various sources, such as lifestyle consumer surveys, which rely on people completing the form in order to be in a draw to win a prize. This does mean that the accuracy of information is questionable.

The lists are generally not cheap, whoever they come from - You might be looking at as much as 15c per record, with a fee of about $350 for list rental/setup. In the grand scheme of things, for a general letterbox drop, you might be better off spending the money on extra letterbox deliveries, rather than trying targetted data.

Another idea, have a chat with your local real estate agent, find out where the key pockets are that 2.4 children are located - they would generally have the best idea as to who lives where.

Hi "AgentMail",

These are all great ideas, but just so we have total clarity...

Prospects Unlimited offers the same 95% guarantee on it's data, and will replace record for record in the even that we're found to be over 95% in error. We have also taken perhaps a slightly different approach, and not relied upon "survey" data in order to populate our database. We work VERY closely with a number of our trusted customers, and have incorporated them into our "Data Pooling" program. This has ensured both an accuracy and distinct advantage not seen in other data sets.

Also, we don't charge ANY setup fees EVER! You only pay for the data you get, no silly admin/charges on top!

Best of luck in your business.

Regards,

Benjamin Jones

there are plenty of list rental companies around - worth checking prices. Some even offer a guaranteed click-though rate

Hi Jazzah,

Sorry that it's taken us so long to find this thread, but we've recently only learnt about this site.

To answer your questions for your, the cost of the data is gererally not the inhibiting factor, as the actual cost of the Direct Mail it's self is usually the harder pill to swallow.

Drilling down into these selections can be a better way to market, but it often depends upon the "Sales" need. What I mean by that, is that the further you drill down, the less data you'll end up with and subsequently the less opportunity you'll have. If you were to look at the ROI on the campaign for a small number, then it would still look like a rock star, but the actual revenue generated may not meet the targets.

Mailing, like any form of marketing, is about testing, testing testing. I've personally been in the Direct Marketing industry for the last decade, and have worked at some MASSIVE Direct Mailers. In the "Hay Days", we'd be mailing 200,000 pieces of DM per WEEK! It was a little insane, but even then we'd be testing multiple copies, creatives and envelopes against each other. At the end of the day, the best marketing you can have, is a multi-channel approach. NEVER rely upon one channel, or one strategy to cater to your sales volume needs.

If you're going down the Direct Mail route, be sure to include a percentage of the data for a follow up phone call. Make sure when making this call, you're collecting Email Addresses. And keep slogging away at it!

It's never an easy and straight forward process, but companies like ours and Agent Mails are here to help make things as easy as possible.

Cheers,

Benjamin Jones

HI Benjamin,

Good on you for stepping in and responding here. I hope you don't think I was being derogatory towards list services, in fact, I am trying to find a reliable partner in that arena myself!

I used to work for a list broker in the UK, so have some knowledge of the MOSAIC and demographic profiling.

Bottom line, as you have pointed out is to try it, persist with it, follow up, make changes try again and keep going - unfortunately most people try once and that is the end of it for them!

ProspectsUnlimited likes this.
