For me this year its going to be all networking - Online and Offline - Not my strongest point but am going to push myself out of my comfort zone on this one...

I'll add to the consensus and say networking.

In fact expanding my AU/NZ business network in is at the top of my 12 month objectives list. I'll be attending networking events more often this year, and organising them myself if needs be.

Also, just reaching out to people. Nothing to lose by sending and email or making a phone call.

This is the second time that I am writing this and still feels all very scary to me

My marketing strategy is simple and the same as last year:

- asking for referrals from my existing clients
- asking for referrals from my alliances
- networking at select events
- updating my blog: www.cmpfinancialplanning.com.au/blog
- posting on investing forums

Personally, I don't like cold calls (especially when I receive 5 in one day) and I will not respond to emails or direct mail from people I don't know. However, I would be interested to hear how people go with some of these strategies.

Khalid, can you explain what magnetic marketing is?

Yes, definitely going to be a busy 2012, but we have to constantly be doing a few things every single working day to achieve the success we want.

We've started a group on FB talking specifically about making things happen for our businesses in 2012, and some of the key players on the forums here are already there. PM me if you want more info, as it's a closed group.

I recommend buying the FT Guide to Business Networking, it's been a huge help to me as face-to-face networking does not come easy to me!

Hi andrew,

Glad to see you have plans in place. Just dont mistake tacticss with strategy.
For example ur main strategy is referral generation. Your tactics are the ones listed below.

Magnetic marketing is where you generate sales without selling on autopilot. The premise is educating your market with 95% premium content with 5% offer over time.

Only 3% are ready to be ur client at any givwn time. The other 7% - 17% take anywhere from 3 days to 9 mOnths.

Its too exhausting to follow up manually so a magnetic marketing system does this on autopilot so u dont have to hunt or chase prospects.

You only spend time with those who are serious and they call u or ask you to call them.

U also have the luxury to choose who you want to work with and set the price because comparing with you to your peers becomes comparing apples to oranges.

The beauty is this works better offline than online.

Here's what we're up to:

- Starting business networking groups
- Running more webinars
- Networking events
- More JV Partners
- Press Releases and Reporter Requests
- Blogging & Social Media

We more than doubled our client base last year (running a webinar tonight for our clients and potential clients tonight on how we did this) so excited to reveal all on how we did it :-)
