What are you doing to get new clients this year?

Hi All!

Figured this would be a great topic to raise here in Flying Solo. With the new year finally here, what are you going to do to get new clients this year?

For me, direct mail with phone call follow ups and ongoing contact with those leads every 90 (no later) days. Have been reading "How to Get New Business in 90 Days and Keep it Forever" by Wendy Evans (thank you Samantha for recommending it) and it's been most inspiring.

I will also be keeping in regular contact with my past and current clients as well.

For me, 2012 is going to be the year of STICKING to ongoing marketing and not resting on my laurels. How about you guys?

I'm going to start wtih some post-card or flyer mailouts in late January.
I may well do some lead generation.. will see as the year goes on
Will probably try and do cold calling, although I don't like the idea.

Most importantly, I'm going to be awesome at what I do, so that my existing clients refer me to new clients.

Yep, me too!

I've done some postcard marketing already with more planned later in the year.

Advertising on a regular basis via SourceBottle.

Signed up with Hotfrog Advantage - will trial it for 3 months and see how it goes.

Revamped my website and improved the SEO.

Created my first ebook and giving it away for free to anyone who wants it (it's about Twitter for business) and plan to write at least 2 more before the end of the year.

Batch writing blog posts so I have some up my sleeve for when I have no time to blog!

Networking at my local Chamber of Commerce which includes being featured as one of their new member profiles and attending at least 1 event per month.

Um, think that's it for new stuff, otherwise the same as I did last year!

Toying with the idea of Adwords but all it's done in the past is cost me money so will see how everything else works out!

My new client generation is being broken down as follows:

Direct Mail
Telemarketing
Face 2 face meetings
Social media/Internet
Networking events

Often there will be crossover (direct mail and telemarketing for example)

Consistency will be my focus - As long as I am doing something from the above list, I am working hard.

this year, im networking the sh*t out of myself. mainly face to face and group meet ups.

followed by emailing current and previous clients of the new services

i also at some stage, plan to hold a couple of free seminars about whatever it is i want to hold them about.

thinking about it out aloud, i think it would be quite epic to have a flying solo seminar. 5 or so related businesses.

i like it.

I have a BIG specific money making goal I want to achieve by the end of this year.

This goals requires me to do alot of tasks that require alot of effort and dedication from my part.

So each week I make a list of small things and setting up long-term strategies that will add up and help me achieve this big goal I have for myself. I make sure I do whatever it takes to to complete these tasks, whether that means staying up all night or sacrificing my social life. But if I achieve this goal by the end of this year, nothing else will replace the amount of pride I would have for myself!

I am hiring a company to do phone sales- going to exhibitor lists to generate enquiries- they do the cold calling I send out the info packs and do the sales meetings

they are a marketing firm that specialises in promoting services

kids magic stuff will be same as always running on auto pilot, I don't want to spend all day answering phones for parents so my automated system works well, although I will be updating my email server

corporate magic work is taking a back seat, I am focusing on Trade shows Only and some associated events until about mid year where I will market to the xmas parties again (this time I will NOT be exhibiting, I have already been booked for the trade show by an exhibitor (so now I get to exhibit and I get paid)

Golf and maybe Tennis. Yet to be drawn into the MAMIL craze (middle age men in lycra). Basically more relationship building and engagement.

The rest is of course top secret.
