Default Best way to record sales figs

Hi all

Just wondered what you all use to record and review your sales figs?

I have all the data in excel but would like to be able to review it year on year and month on month.

Any advice on what you use would be great.

G

If you're happy with Excel, can't you add total columns on the spreadsheet, side by side, to compare month to month, year to year?

If you are happy with Excel at the daily level, you can wrap days up to monthly and yearly totals using SUMIF function. It's pretty easy to work out.

I find making charts in excel is easy for comparing one year to the next.

Just select the date range and fields for e.g. sales, referral rates etc.

If you total your sales figures monthly - its easy to pick up the monthly totals for the charts.

I use them for types of quick comparisons e.g. referral rates, comparing sales figures by the month, one year to another to see quiet and busy patterns etc.

Charts are a visual reprentation of your business progress. If you do them at regular intervals you can easily keep track of how your business is going.

Learning how to use pivot tables changed my life ... ok that sounded a bit sad, but they are a very powerful way to manipulate data for reporting.

hi

yes i would agree pivot is a good way to go, otherwise maybe look online for a software you can upload the data into.

I know of a couple of accounting softwares like SAASU but you may not need an accounting package per se?

Good luck
