I bought a day on www.bigaussiegiveaway.com and today is my day!

The thoery is to get people to use social media, facebook twitter etc to win a prize and in the process promote a product/online business.

Sounds like a great concept, I will let you know if it leads to anything.

Hi,

Great response to this marketing attempt. We saw approx 3 times the sales yesterday that we usually see through the website plus a larger than usual number of product enquiries.

I will be interested to see how we go day+1 and will let you know.

All in all it was the best $12 I have spent on advertising :-)

I have been on board with this since August when I first heard about and I also got a great response on my first day. Instead of giving away one product, I gave away 3, so it was a really good day for exposure. I have also purchased another 8 days from now until end March. Well done and good luck!

Gosh, what an interesting concept bigaussiegiveaway.com is.

Are there other sites like this? Any business oriented ones?

I like the idea of being able to buy a day of advertising, but i'm wondering why only small companies seem to be using the service, and why does the dollar amount go up each day. Seems silly to charge $12 for a day in January and $300+ for a day in December. Different prices for different seasons make sense but why a different price for a different day.

I bought a day for each city in early March. Seems like a great way to spread word of mouth online. I'll report back on any success in early March (if I remember)!

Hi,

This was a great experiment in the proper use of social media. Sales went through the roof on the day of the advert and returned to pretty much to sthe same levels as prior to the promotion after about 3 days.

It has kicked off interest in our facebook page quite nicely which is now starting to build when it was pretty stagnent before the giveaway.

Thanks for sharing this Sue. I have seen the site referenced 'around the place' but hadn't really given it much thought until you posted... Seems you got a good response, and, for a relatively small investment it's easy to have a 'let's see what happens' attitude I think.

My business is entirely service based so don't have a 'product' to give away so will be putting the thinking cap on as to a service I provide that people might be interested in winning.

To David's post re the differing prices... I wonder if this is simply a case of as time goes on the site (in theory) will become more and more popular and more and more success stories will come out so people will be willing to pay more for their day? Just a thought.

I too will be booking for March (day after t-shirt fan I believe!) so will also report back....
