Default Let's see if you can guess what works?

I do a lot of testing and I thought it will be nice to share some of the results of what works better on our site with you.

I know my last idea was bad, but this one is much better.

On our site there is a little slogan which I have tried to test different copy on:

* The newest accounting software on the market
* The first micro business accounting software
* Micro business != small business
* The 3rd accounting software in Australia (by Google)
* Do you always buy from the market leader?
* We don't have dozens of products to offer, we only have one
* We don't have 1000+ employees, we're a micro business too
* We havn't been around for 20 years... we're a micro business too
* We're not on the cloud, keep your data close
* Does your business data belongs on the cloud?
* We don't have to cut costs and raise prices
* We sell software (not services) buy once use forever

I have tested the different version on 1200 visitors over the past couple of weeks and measured the responses.

So let's see who can guess what's the best or worse performing slogan. What we measured is engagement, watching the video tour and downloading the trial version. The most important is the last one.

The prize for guessing the best one is a virtual hug.

I reckon the best performing one was:

"The first micro business accounting software"

and the worst performing:

"We sell software (not services) buy once use forever"

Same as Victor, I would say maybe;

"The first micro business accounting software"

although, I would think

"* We sell software (not services) buy once use forever"

would have done ok. Just because I spent an hour yesterday trying to find some studio management software that wasn't subscription based.

The worst? Maybe:

"* Do you always buy from the market leader?"

IMO, without wanting to be rude, it's quite hard to pick what would be the best because they are all a little ordinary.

By the way, i'll give you a virtual hug (if u show me how) for guessing which one doubled sales:

1) Puts recruiting on autopilot

2) Put recruiting on autopilot

I was thinking number 2 because, as someone else said, its empowering. But, I'm going to go with number 1 because it implies less work and effort on the part of the customer - in 1 the software/service/product puts the recruiting on autopilot while in 2 'you' put the recruiting on autopilot.

Spot on Nick. People want "magic pills". they dont want to work. They want to unwrap, set and forget. One letter can make a 6 figure difference.

Sorry. didnt mean to hijack the thread but i wanted to stress the importance of testing even one letter. let alone different headlines.

so much money is left on the table because we don't let the market decide what works and go with what we think is right to satisfy our egos.

As the saying goes: would you rather be "right and poor" or "wrong and rich"?
