Hi Mario,
i looked into this a while ago for a client and found that WorldPay offers a very broad range of currencies, but at a high premium compared to Australian payment gateways. We ended up going with the commonwealth bank and offer a few key currencies.

Worth doing a bit of research into the buying preferences of your demographic though.

Cheers,
Michael

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the reply.

One of the big reasons for setting up a fully fledged merchant account linked with a gateway service is to ensure the minimum amount of steps the new customer needs to go through to complete the sale.

Secondly I am able to advertise my services in $US dollars even though the monies hitting my account will end up being $AU. I just received an email from eway telling me that the NAB is the only bank that will give me this functionality.

You mention the CBA and a few currencies. Are you saying that you are able to advertise in $US dollars while using a CBA merchany bank account?

Mario

Hi Mario,
no worries. I believe the CBA account is able to advertise in a number of currencies (US, AU, GBP, EUR & NZD) and receive the money in AU. I believe the company i advised this for have already talked to CBA and its being implemented in the website when i get back from a holiday and can spend the time on it!

Cheers,
Michael

Did you work this out?

I am also looking at transacting USD credit card transactions over the web. NAB are still the only ones offering a USD merchant account in Australia and it is expensive. Worldpay is sligtly cheaper in my case but still expensive. Paypal no good for the reasons you explained.

Same problem here too, and those fees listed on the first page are frightening.

I also need merchant facilities, online only, prices exclusively in USD. Need the ability to write cheques in USD and/or ability to transfer into bank accounts internationally. Would be nice if the balance of the account was also in USD as all my expenses will also be incurred in USD. Only need to convert to AUD when I actually withdraw for my personal use. People set their own prices, anything from $20 and up with no upper limit and saying minimum of $20 per transaction cleans me out completely for small fish and will probably mean I need to rethink my pricing structure.

Banks seem very reluctant to post their prices online so it is oh so hard to compare them.
