Warning ... I'm pretty sure some of these have full-on cursing ... so do not watch if you're offended by language!

Step 1: The very awesome Vin Diesel in one of the best movie closes of ALL TIME:

Step 2: Great Advice from the awesome Ben Affleck - DEFINITE LANGUAGE WARNING! "A SALE IS MADE ON EVERY CALL - the only question is - who is gonna be? You or him?"

I'm going to throw my hat into this ring - and see if it comes back unscathed!

I watched, after the first one my head was saying underhanded, unethical tactics. The second I only watched half way through, not because of the language, but because of the "you got to be aggressive".

Now before you shoot me down in flames because I may not be willing to "push for the hard sell", let me explain. I recon I can sell to someone reasonably well when they are wavering and I am certainly willing to learn how to take that further, but I live and work on strong ethical values and I will not go the path of what elsewhere within this forum has been formally referred to as "The Hard Sell". Ah La, selling to someone something that they really don't need.

I am willing to accept that this may not be the stance of respondents to this thread, but just like foul language is really totally unnecessary to get ones point across,,, so it is a far better thing (and I am absolutely certain appreciated by the vast majority of anyone's clients and potential clients) to practice a bit of ethics in business.

Now, keyboards at 10 paces anyone?????

Well OBVIOUSLY you don't do exactly what they do ... never lie, you'll always get busted ...

And you don't just sell anyone ...

You figure out WHO needs your help.

You develop rapport and see if what you have suits their needs.

But some of the techniques, when used properly, are absolutely applicable.

An AWESOME sales person sometimes has to call people on their crap ... has to say ...

You know what? Tell me you don't like my idea. Tell me you don't like my tie. But don't tell me you don't have $2,000.

What's REALLY going on?

OBVIOUSLY you don't do exactly what happens in these clips ... but if you watch the CONTEXT of what is going on, there's a lot of really good sales strategies in there.

A SALE IS MADE ON EVERY CALL.

Either you sell the guy.

Or he sells you on why he can't.

Either way, a sale is made on every call.

That's it - I'm done!

Peppie, also consider this; Nobody needs anything.....it's all want...that guy WANTED to be lied to, Vin was just helping the poor guy out....lol...

This is off topic but you end up becoming the way you act...if you don't want to be a pushy, manipulative, control freak, don't do it to your customers....Imagine a world full of sales people....it'd be like the streets of India...

I disagree ... a REAL salesperson isn't a pushy street-seller. A REAL salesperson doesn't try and sell to everyone. A REAL salesperson comes from a place of utter confidence in their product and love for their client.

The "salespeople" you're used to are the kind of people who lose their jobs within 2 weeks because they don't get it. They're not salespeople - never will be.

He He, I should add that in addition to decent ethical values - I am also a born stirrer. I have my parents to thank for that and because my wife is the same our 3 kids don't have a chance, and they know it.

Leela, I agree use the idea and not the strict method, learn from them and not copy them, I do this all the time. I keep big ears out and I have a knack of being able to sift the wheat and chaff.

Call it a rant if you like, but I just can't go along with any idea that I HAVE to use this or that method to succeed. So I watch and learn, listen and take note. That's why I keep checking out FS posts and read lots of newsletters from people doing things that interest me/that I am looking for answers on.

An example of the sort of sales thing I am talking about. Last Sat. while I was working outside at home I had a call from a guy who said he was from the US and had been looking at my website. Said he could show how to improve my organic ranking. Not a term I was familiar with so I did some research later and found it was just another way of saying the lastest thing in SEO. I said I could not talk now, could he send me an email with the details, oh I can't do that I need to talk this through with you now, but I CAN'T talk to you now send me your details/website and I will look at it. In the end I said if you can't do THAT then I am just not interested in talking to you. If I used that sort of technique on any of my clients I flatly would not have a business.
