Default Internet "How To" or "How it Works" or "Take a Tour" Videos

More and more I'm seeing internet start-ups as well as established businesses need quick 60-90 sec videos for new products and services to help communicate a process or feature.

I've done a few of these:

https://www.billstrust.com/Tour/Video
http://www.staffsearcher.com.au/myob/takeTheTour.html

I'm thinking of setting up a website that just specifically caters for this type of video genre. To keep the cost competitive I've been thinking of limiting the video styles that I offer.

Has anyone in the forum has actually commissioned these in the past?
If so I wouldn't mind some feedback if limiting style choice would be a deal breaker or if it would be an absolute requirement that the video should match the style of the brand of the company or product.

Hi mekanica

Did you personally do BillsTrust?
I really liked that. Exactly to the point.

Have you seen VideoBoss.com by Andy Jenkins (ex Stompernet) ?
It looks like you've done exactly what he propounds.

http://www.thevideoboss.com

You've gotta opt-in to see the videos, and he's trying to sell you a course, but jsut take a look at how he says how to do it - just what you've done!

So, well done!

And I think you've got a good market there - it worked for me via BillsTrust (I'll be checking their service out for myself!) so I think its all good.

Keep on keeping on!

Cheers
Brad

Hi Brad, thanks for the link - it looks like there's a bit of demand out there.

Yes I did both videos as well as lots more, these are just the ones of the type I thought I could develop a business idea on. There's a lot that needs to be sorted out with a video: script, voice over, imagery and most importantly making sure that the audience "gets it" after viewing. The challenge is trying to commodotise this so that I can keep the price down but give the client something still personalised.

I thought if I develop 3 styles I can re-use much of the same elements (eg icons) for other videos so over time I'd have a library of style elements that I can use and then it would be a matter of personalising the content to the subject matter of the video rather than re-inventing the wheel.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Well I think you've done really well - go and look at what Andy has done with the videoboss stuff, and I'm sure you'll agree - you're on the right path!

(And he shows how to script it etc in a really simple manner)

I'm sure you could build a business on that - keep going - but check out what Andy says - get the features of the product you're offering and turn them into features, and grab the audience by their emotions.... for the BillsTrust, for me, you've done that well.

Grab my bill, stick a QR Code on it, send it to BillsTrust, and I don't have to worry about it anymore. "Peace of mind" that my bill will be paid on time.

Go you good thing!

(Oops, I've used that line once already tonight, but the sentiment stays the same - good luck! I think you're onto a winner)

Cheers
Brad

Hi mate, yeh I've done flash development as well - but I find that flash is more useful for web banners these days, full flash site seem to be out of vogue because of the lack of search engine indexing.

That said, it works for some clients, this is a full flash site I did:
http://www.mindsatwork.com.au

Otherwise as I said, flash is great as an internal component to attract attention and focus - for a home page approach that has flash components in it that I've done have a look at:

Hi Mekanica

I loved it. They were great! Like Brad I especially liked the Bills Trust one.

I would be very interested in hearing more about what you will be offering. Please feel free to email me when you are ready.

Brad, thanks for the link. Will be checking it out with interest.

Hi Karen, thanks for your feedback - I'll put something together soon, trying to give it a web 2.0 edge so when it's up I'll let you know.
