Well, I've finally bitten the bullet and incorporated twitter into my marketing strategies - found this great resource which got me moving (still to master most of those strategies though!)

And no, you won't find me twitting... I'm sure you really don't want to know what I had for breakfast.... am promising my tweets will be practical, purposeful or at least slightly amusing...

If anyone else is tweeting happily, feel free to post your twitter link below - lets follow each other!

Hi Lisa,
i did an experiment into Twitter for a month too see if it was for me, but at the end I found that I wasn't building enough relationships and that there were not many australian business owners on there.

Once Australian business embraces twitter I may decide to get back on there, but for now I don't have enough time to make the most out of it and Im not ready to be a trendsetter!

We have just created a Twitter campaign for a client that has about 70% of revenues in international markets, and that looks to be much more effective at this stage.

Cheers,
Michael

I've found twitter useful for upping the comments and hits on my blog ... yet to see how that translates into conversions ...

Have you started following Mr Tweet? He will return you a list of targeted, potential people to follow ... most of who will then start following you, I've found.

I've connected to quite a few Aussie business people this way ... it's also a good idea to put your twitter ID with your facebook, linkedin, etc ID on your webpage and in sigs and stuff ...

One of my clients was telling me today about Twitter. She did a twitter about the BMN conference as she's presenting & has generated a lot of interest in it! I'm going to ask her to give me some tips.

While I have been twittering, I have to admit I don't have a specific strategy in mind or a goal. Although, I have received a few leads through twitter, I have mainly found it useful for keeping in touch with my industry and potential client market.

Just discovered www.flock.com - its the firefox upgrade built for social networking - lots of fun so far (although possibly a little distracting...) here's some more info:
www.youtube.com/howtoflock

Have also linked up my facebook and twitter accounts - very easy:

Best use of twitter so far has been useful links from others I'm following...

cheers
Lisa

As with any tool you need to have a specific strategy when employing it. Twitter can be useful for a whole range of reasons: networking; market research; sourcing new clients; and chatting with friends after a hard day. Combining it with Yahoo pipes and your rss reader even allows you to keep an eye on who's chatting about your brand which can provide you with a customer service opportunity. Lot's of uses but if you're just riding the hype wave and expecting it to all happen for you then it probably won't. Be proactive.

Just some thoughts,

skribe

You know what? With Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, etc., sometimes it'd be difficult for small business owners to actually find time to work!

Having said that, yesterday (I believe ... My late nights are giving me a bit of a temporal distortion effect) I signed up for a twitter account. Here's the link: http://twitter.com/reneebarber although I admit I don't have a great deal of time to post at the moment.

Hopefully everyone will continue to share tips with some of the more twitter-challenged individuals on the forum (myself included). This one: http://www.ajvaynerchuk.com/how-to-l...tter-tutorial/ worked really well. Thanks, Lisa!

Hi Renee
Yes, it is a bit distracting to have so much going at once - I'm putting strict time limits on myself at the moment!! It can be a little addictive ;-)

Skribe is right about goals - I'm pretty clear on my objectives and that relates to my time allocations as well.

Am pleased to report that I've had my first client enquiry stemming from twitter profile - so that is pretty excellent in less than two weeks of twittering!!

Today I found www.twitalyzer.com - it gives you stats analysis on how your usage of twitter can be more engaging - interesting stuff!!

cheers
Lisa
