Default Business blog coaching

Greetings

A few of you know I'm planning on starting a blog coaching service.

Firstly - I'm looking for twenty people to help me pioneer this - that would be 20 small businesses with blogs where the blog is not the earner but helps attract leads.

Secondly - I'd love some advice on how to go about this. At the moment I'm thinking a combo of one-on-one emails a private (or public?) community forum and a tips/inspiration newsletter.

But I'd love for you to let me know what you think would be a good way for me to coach others, and for others to also coach each other.

Cheers

Ali

Why not put a little forum on your own website? (Although the flying solo head honcho's might get jealous )

E books tend to be difficult beasts these days and only seem to work if its an adjunct to something else. My opinion, but I wouldn't go that way.

Neither would I think a forum would work unless you were intending to build a decent following - like FS.

Why don't you use a blog to teach people how to blog!!?? Seems obvious but possibly the best solution for the very task you are aiming for. I am assuming you are talking about teaching business people how to blog?

PS, don't yet have a blog but am aiming towards one in the not too distant future, I would be interested in your trial program.

I have seen a few private 'members only' forums work for coaching. Maybe that would be worth a try. As long as the business owners/participants are savvy enough to jump in and post it could work out quite well.

What about something similar to the 30dc though on a smaller scale.

Or a mixture of instructional videos with screen captures?

I think the idea of the private forum for certain members is a good idea and you charge a certain about for each month or a six week course...then give free access to a forum.

Also could also be Accountability within the group (as long as all are willing to share)

Accountability would be based around numbers - so each week they give a report on the number of visits/comments/sign ups so that each person in the group knows if they are going alright or falling behind the 8 ball.

I would be really interested in doing something like that - needing the weekly Accountability (however beyond the basics now)

chat later

M

Thank you everyone.

Your ideas have been great and confirmed what I was thinking - a members only forum on my main website.

The key is to make it as valuable and hassle free for small business people who don't want to add nonsense to their life. The forum is a simple enough concept for most.

I'm going to open the registration process for a week from now and all are welcome. After that, for non-website customers there's a 20/mo fee.

There will be members-only video tutorials in Wordpress too - on adding and configuring plugins to get certain new functions on your blog, and members can request tutorials etc... you get the picture.

@Michael - your accountabilitiy idea is great. I wonder how i'd implment it. I was planning on using buddypress for all client's website- in that system all activity on the whole system can be listed in one feed - very easy to follow everyone. I guess I could do something with RSS - though there would be a bit of lag.

@Karen your idea is great - I think I'm going to keep this in mind as a info product. I'm already signed up with Aweber so there's nothing stopping me there.

@Jake - thanks - it's a learning process. I'm even thinking of ditching the 'because you love it' theme and going with something like micro-biz-sites.com... still thinking. Lucky it's pretty easy to change the domain name

As for Flying Solo getting jealous - I don't see why they would unless they had a dedicated forum for biz-blogging - which they don't! If they want to, I'd happily help out in exchange for some exposure and promotion
