Twitter is another that offers such promise but fails to translate as well. We could go on to include linkedin, spoke etc. (far more business oriented than facebook).
There is much hype about social media marketing - but despite hundreds of articles, all they talk about is promise, not solid outcomes. |
I can give you tangible case studies ...
$4k from Facebook today.
But that's exceptionally good and not standard by any stretch ...
Normally $3k a week.
I started a fan page - 450-odd fans ... 25% have then opted-in and ended up in our funnel ... how that turns out ... we'll see. I don't count my chickens before they hatch.
Also - I can directly attribute at least 5 speaking gigs (with total backend sales of around $20k) to relationships formed on Facebook.
We've made a lot less money on Twitter, which is why I don't use it as much anymore ... a few thousand ... but I do get great affiliate results from well-connected Twitter peeps tweeting me out.
Social Media is the BEST lead generation tool there is - when worked right.
But that's the secret ... like anything - it only works when it's worked right. TV can work, or not.
SEO can work, or not. Advertising can work, or not.
Because the barrier to entry is so low, there's more people than on any other media - most of them doing it wrong.
