I've fanned everyone listed so far Feel free to fan me back Fido's Funhouse Adelaide

Maxwolfie, when I click your link I get taken to my own FB page, so not sure what's happening there (??).

There was one link that didn't work but I was too busy fanning everyone and thought I'd come back to it but I can't seem to find the post now. I'll have another look shortly.

YBP, I couldn't find the info about the vanity URL on your FB page, I probably missed it, I'm still getting used to FB. Just wanted to know what the vanity URL was all about

Man - you're peddling this crap over here too?

WTF is the point of fanning one another (unless you're ACTUALLY a fan of the other persons business?).

THIS IS OLD MEDIA / BACKLINK thinking and has no relevance on Facebook.

What possible result do you think you're going to get by fanning each other?

Do you really think the number of fans you have makes ANY DIFFERENCE if those people are only fanning you so you'll fan them back??

Makes absolutely no sense.

I DISAGREE with what's said about Facebook not making money - we make, on average, $3k a week from it (today alone we've had a VERY good FB day - just over $4k in sales from Facebook at 3:30)

But we don't do that by randomly fanning people just because they ask.

Get with the program.

This entire concept shows a misunderstanding of the fundamental workings of social media.

Further ... tell me.

If you fan the guy who created this and who has been peddling it all over LinkedIn too ...

And he turns out to be a rip-off merchant ...

And you have clients / friends / family who use his services and get ripped off because YOU WERE HIS FAN ...

How do you think THAT is going to turn out?

I NEVER fan anyone who I haven't either personally used, or whose business I understand because I've worked closely with them.

Fanning is an implied recommendation of a business.

Be careful who you give that kind of referral too - because it will ABSOLUTELY reflect on YOUR reputation if they turn out to be dodgy ...

I don't see fanning anyone on my personal Facebook page as any more recommendation for their services than sticking a magnet on my fridge.

I enjoy reading what other businesses are doing, updating their fans with and so forth. By fanning a page I am doing so as an individual, for my personal use - not as my business.

I would take your point if I were for example to be adding pages of businesses I have not had dealings with to my Fanpage favourite pages - as that would be an indication to my business fans that I recommend that business.

The two are very different things IMO.

It doesn't matter whether YOU see it as a recommendation.

The fact is, studies show that friends see fanning a page as an implied recommendation of another business / person.

Oh dear - are you saying you have a separate business and personal account??

Big mistake. Huge.

That's not what I have said at all.

Ah, it's a bit of fun, and for those who don't have many fans for their business it's a way to build it up a bit. There were quite a few business links I wouldn't have known about if I hadn't had the opportunity to see them here and I'm happy to add my 'fannage' to fellow Soloists. If it turns out that there's a scammer amongst them I can always un-fan myself. There's also several more people who now know about my business and may tell others about it.

There is much hype about social media marketing - but despite hundreds of articles, all they talk about is promise, not solid outcomes.
I can give you tangible case studies ...

$4k from Facebook today.

But that's exceptionally good and not standard by any stretch ...

Normally $3k a week.

I started a fan page - 450-odd fans ... 25% have then opted-in and ended up in our funnel ... how that turns out ... we'll see. I don't count my chickens before they hatch.

Also - I can directly attribute at least 5 speaking gigs (with total backend sales of around $20k) to relationships formed on Facebook.

We've made a lot less money on Twitter, which is why I don't use it as much anymore ... a few thousand ... but I do get great affiliate results from well-connected Twitter peeps tweeting me out.

Social Media is the BEST lead generation tool there is - when worked right.

But that's the secret ... like anything - it only works when it's worked right. TV can work, or not. SEO can work, or not. Advertising can work, or not.

Because the barrier to entry is so low, there's more people than on any other media - most of them doing it wrong.

But Build up what?

It's not about quantity - its about quality.

How is having a bunch of fans who are only interested in you fanning them back going to help you?

This is all about the original poster trying to get people to buy his FB pimping services.

It adds absolutely no value ... Further - it could actually detract from your business.

If people see this thread ... and see that the only way you can get fans is to fan-swap - you'll lose respect.

If you want a bunch of fans - then do what it takes to get them ...

Really - you're just buying fans, who aren't really fans and who add no value to you.

Lame.

If you don't have any fans right now - it's because you don't deserve them.

Swapping fan links isn't going to help that.
