Default Facebook Business Page

Morning fellow businesspeople!

We've just set our facebook page username and it was confirmed however when we tried typing "facebook.com/socialroyalty" in the browser, it just directs us back to the facebook.com page. Anyone has any idea how to solve this glitch? Much appreciated :L)

I can see it only when logged in and when i type it in another browser. When I log out of facebook and type it into a browser, it redirects back to facebook.com without opening the page.
I tried typing in other people's pages while logged out and they work. Strange!

Hi Social Royalty,

I had same problem as you. But once I logged into Facebook, your page opened up right away. So it is a matter of user being logged in I think, ie they just need to log in and your page will open automatically.

There must be a way, since when I logged out and typed in: facebook.com/coldplay as an example, the page opened. If anyone knows how to have a page show up while people are logged off facebook, that would be great. That way they can see the page and log on if they want to "like" it.

On your page in Facebook, click Edit Page.
Then choose Settings.
Make sure Published (publicly visible) is selected and Save.

See image attached.

Hi There All,
Well I've been having a look at this and I came to a few conclusions (my opinion only):
1/ Coldplay have a special "Vanity URL", this was used to promote facebook
2/ A normal named page is only visible when logged in if you use the "correct" url
3/ The full url of your page, including magic numbers, makes it visible on the web when not logged in, try http://www.facebook.com/pages/Emporian/121378624540861
4/ I was going to try to name the page but what's the point!
5/ Recommendation: Create you own short url or redirect to point to your named page using the full url.
6/ Please fan http://www.facebook.com/pages/Emporian/121378624540861 just in case I decide to name the page one day.

Don't we all love Facebook! I'm sure there are some more sensible suggestions out there.

If you check my notes in my post above it will work. I tried it on two different computers and was not logged into Facebook to view your page but could see it clearly.

Social Royalty - your page definitely shows to non-users if you edit the page the way I indicated and use your normal vanity address.

(On your page in Facebook, click Edit Page.
Then choose Settings.
Make sure Published (publicly visible) is selected and Save.)
Screen image attachement in previous post.

HI Karen

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked that and I had it already saved as "published" so that it is visible.. hmmm.. does your page show up when you're logged off fb?

Yes it does.

It's got something to do with those edit pages.
And the vanity name is sufficient.

You also need to nominate which section you wish newcomers to view ie the Wall, or another tab.
