Default How to start a buzzing forum

Hi guys,
I am starting a website devoted to a certain hobby of mine and would like to get a forum up and running which revolves around that topic.

What is the best way to entice people to post on the first forum topics?

The first posts have to come from somewhere but i am not sure how to get them started.

Thanks in advance

Simple

Hi Simple,

It's not uncommon for forum owners to kick off their forum by signing up a few accounts, posting the first few topics and replying to themselves using the various accounts.

Some forum applications / plug-ins also let you create dummy accounts - you simply put the number of accounts you want to create and it will automatically register that many accounts with commonly used usernames. People will be more interested to post something if they think more people are going to read it.

Cheers,
Rob
