Hi Trish - there's some wise responses here. Testing is absolutely the key to finding the right time for optimising your response. One thing I'd like to add though, once you find that soft spot for this particular market, stick to it like glue. One of the key aims of any E-newsletter should be to build trust with your readership. This entire process can start every time you mail by arriving in people's inbox at the same time, every time. Readers like to know what to expect from you. Top quality, content rich e-newsletters will be anticipated by their readers, so not arriving when expected would create disappointment and erode trust. Imagine if you went to buy your copy of The Weekend Australian on a Saturday morning and your newsagent told you it wouldn't be available until Monday because the production department was too busy to print it this week! Lots of luck with your testing...I love that stuff!!
