haha, true, I never thought about that. Imagine the cross company link sabotaging that would go on.

Definitely a gray area as you say everyone has their own opinion even the professional SEO and webdesign guys.

There is a lot of 'mystery' attached to the subject of SEO - probably because there are over 200 factors in how a site gets listed.

Without truly great content you need to harness those factors as best you can and maybe target some less competitive keywords. Targeting them for local areas is an option.

At the end of the day 'Natural SEO' boils down to having great content, so good that others want to link to it! That's my simplistic view and I'm sticking to it!
