Re: how to find the plastics waste
In one of my former existences I partnered a plastics injection molding manufacturing business with my brother. He was the expert but I picked up quite a lot from him.
I would go into the viability of such a venture really carefully, not because it may be sus, but because a lot can happen to change the scene in a short space of time. Prices of plastic materials are usually affected by the price of crude oil, much plastic is derived from oil.
You will also need to know your different types of plastic because you will have to keep them separate. But I think you could probably tie that down to about 6 or 8 basic types. Plastic can be reused but the properties do change each time you do and often only a percentage is mixed with new material if the finished product allows for it. It will be remade into pellets like the newer material.
For souces of scrap, I would approach any manufacturer that makes plastic product in Aust. and that means injection molders, extruders, bottle blow molders etc.. There are Aust. businesses that do this and you will have to compete for price. You could also go for straight recycling milk and softdrink bottles, but they can take up a lot of room. You may then need to invest in a big grinder (you can buy grinders especially for the job) to reduce the bulk.
