Hi All,

I know this is a bit 101, but I just had to share/give a tip.

If you business is in the service or similar industry, where people contact you for a quote, make sure you are the first to respond.

This past week, I have won two new clients, simply because I was the quickest to respond.

I often find that when people make contact, it is because they have a need to fill quite urgently, so often price is not the main concern, but speed of delivery. This is not always the case, but these last 2, that has been the case. One client contacted me through my website, with a small job worth only a few hundred dollars. I made contact immediately, and within 48hrs, they had found another mailout they need to do, which increased the job size 5 fold!

So bottom line, get in there early.

Get email on your phone, have office lines diverted to mobile etc. etc. - Just make sure you are the first to respond, and you may just find yourself picking up some clients where price is not the major concern!

I also think that it gives the impression of great customer service, that is you show them that to you they are number 1.

I absolutely agree AgentMail - I've built a company on responding quickly and that doesn't always mean I need to deliver quickly.

I genuinely believe that most people are not that demanding, we just all like to know that our request is being answered. Most clients are happy just by confirming that I have the request, understand what is needed and what my next step will be.

It's not rocket surgery but luckily (for those of us that do it) it's an easy way to get market edge.

Great topic and one close to my heart.

Totally agree. And here is a study that backs it up!

The odds of qualifying a lead in 5 minutes versus 30 minutes drop 21 times. And from 5 minutes to 10 minutes the dial to qualify odds decrease 4 times.

Absolutely agree with this.
I have often chosen on the basis of punctuality, not price.
I'm always amazed by businesses who simply don't return your call or take ages to respond.
