I have used crazy domains for domain registration and 1 website which against many reviews is running just fine! Panthur.com.au or .com.au both good and get a good writeup at various geeky forums ...

I highly recommend netregistry. Never had any issues with them.

Hi Penny,

Wendy is spot on in regards to registering a business name first. Once you've got that established, the next step would be to register a .com.au/.net.au domain name and purchase web hosting. I would highly recommend going with Australian web hosting that features a SLA on their hosting plans.

Cheers,
Shaun

Justhost are doing 2.95 hosting at the moment - it's a 4 year term (otherwise they start slowly stepping up the price) and you pay up front for 12 months.

if you use their "freedomain" voucher, they'll register your domain for free, for the first year, provided you're on a yearly plan (as above!)

I've got a client who had pre-existing hosting with justhost , and another who who, when he setup his website, his web developer used them.
Have no particular complaints - in fact, the ability to have as many databases as you want is excellent, if you wanted to run several dynamic sites (although admittedly, you probably don't)

I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have about hosting at all..
(as a side note, to register a .com.au you need an ABN iirc, but im sure you do so that's ok)
