How can the government support your business?

Hi,

I would be interested to know what other people out there would want from their government to assist them in running there business.

I want a high speed broadband connection (& that is in the works).

I would also like rates bills that I had some control over.

Should we have to re-register our business name every 3 years?

Make it simple - get rid of the red tape, get rid of sales tax, why do I need an ABN when I already have an ATO number? Why would i register a business with a state anyways? Simplify the tax system - I shouldn't need an accountant to file a tax return. Pretty much do what NZ did 10+ years ago! I love Australia for your climate but my business is gonna run out of NZ cause its so much easier!

Yes, I completely agree, make it more simple.

I'd like to do an article on that for the Business section of my online magazine offering links to each state's events page so if anyone has any links to share that would be great.
