Default yes another business name thread

Hi guys, just a quick one, Im hoping someone can help me with. My latest business venture is in the developing stage and for several reasons I dont want to get into just yet, I want to simply call my business (my initials) ENTERPRISES. eg. ABC ENTERPRISES.
The question is , are there legal conitations with the word "enterprise" ? Thanks in anticipation, Tony

Not to the best of my knowledge; take into consideration that this is a general opinion and not specific advice in relation to your specific situation.

If your business name is different from your entity name you must register your business name with ASIC.

Eg if your name is John Citizen and you wish to trade as John Citizen Enterprises you must register your business name.

Legal entities are:
  1. Sole Trader
  2. Partnership
  3. Pty Limited
  4. Limited
  5. Association
  6. Incorporated Association
  7. Trust

There is a caveat to the above however - there are certain words you cannot use in your entity name or your business name, not without proper approval. These include:
  1. University
  2. Trust (unless you are in fact running a trust)
  3. Chartered
  4. Bank
  5. Building Society

I think it should be fine.
Just try to register it and they will knock it back if you cant.

Thanks for taking the time to reply Steve and Kenneth, I expected as much, but was just doing a qik check. ... I hope I have a more interesting topic next time round.
I can now start my business plan with the name at the top of the page. (registering it along the way of course) and get down into the nuts and bolts of my concept.

Definitely no issues considering that there are a multitude of other businesses that have the word Enterprise in their name.
