Importing from China

If you were importing goods from China to say Melbourne, what is peoples views on how much you need to spend to make it a worthwhile exercise when you consider the customs, transport and tax costs.

Also what are all the different types of information that I will need to get from the supplier (european based) to give to my customs broker: re assisting in getting my cargo to Australia.

Im still a novice and would just like to get to understand peoples basic experiences with gathering of this type of info.

My step-daughter has had some experience with importing from China.

We've been through all the stuff with her, and she has been burned on more than one occasion, but I'm sure she'd welcome a chat.

As far as I can remember, all her stuff has arrived by FedEx or DHL - never a problem. Direct to her in a big carboard box.
