Default Start new call centre

Hi
i am planning to open a outbound call centre in melbourne,i don't have much experience in this business but i am doing my research about various aspects like (1) the cost involved in opening a small sized call centre of 15-20 seats. (2) how to get process from compnies?

i'd really appreciate if can someone help me with these quesions.

regards,

sam

I suppose with point 1, that would depend on where it is, CBD or out f CBD, rental, leasing or buying. Then there is the staff costs, hardware (PABX, computers, software etc etc.).

Good luck!

... not to mention the type of business you are hoping to attract (customer service? help desk? market research interviewing? cold calling/sales?) This will have an affect on who you'd look for to recruit and the training they'll need - and the type and expense of software.

This is a bit spooky! I'm looking at the same idea here in Perth. I'm interested in providing small business with market research information. Not too sure how to set something like this up and more importantly how to market my marketing services and who to!!
I have heard all of the telephone work has moved overseas, is there a demand for local centres still in Australia?
Thanks

Greymouse Nearshore provides outsourced resources.
(its a separate company to mine, its my fathers company.)

It has taken us (I say us, because I helped them) 4 years to get to the point of 'just' being profitable in that area.

That might not be the same for you as you will be operating only in Australia so you wont have the setup costs of flying to Fiji and having to ship expensive servers over there UPS's, setting up multiple company's in multiple country's etc.

However one aspect that we would have done differently was to already have the clients ready to switch over to our own service....

So what do i mean.
Well.....

If you already have 5 clients with 13 full time operators, then you have already created demand for yourself.

The key aspect here is that you become a 'sales person'/'VAR (Value added reseller)', you sell your product and get the customer on a contact with out you being the one with the expense of manufacturing the service (providing the service through another company), but them as the manufacture, and you as the VAR.

Then when you know that you can switch to your own building/people, you do. (You know from the numbers/profit your getting, and the saving you could have by doing it yourself.) - (Even keeping the other call centre as an overflow option in peek times.)

Its a much safer way to set up call centres, and to let your customers drive how they want the service to work.

We have helped many clients partner them in developing customised & hybrid solutions around this aspect. (In fact once we started working with them, they just stayed with us.)

Example for a train company in Vic:
We take the level 1 helpdesk calls (Just logging the ticket), and other operators (their inhouse staff) read the calls and action them. Removing them from having to answer the phone and deal with the call, increasing their efficiency.

If you would like to talk to someone, talk to Kel about what's available & how it works. (Number on the contact page)

Hope this info helps,
Clint Davis.

Thanks for the pointers Clint. I think I may be on the wrong track. My thoughts were to provide a customer contact solution for small to medium sized businesses. A proffesional direct marketing service that would involve careful, targeted telephone and mail communication with existing and potential customers the client identifies. After thinking about your comments, I may be better off subcontracting the telephone side of things to an established call centre and the same regarding the mail out work.
I'd then act as a consulting agent to both, creating the campaign and using the sub contractors as part of a temporary team.
Thanks again.

I can give you an input on the equipment you will need, will it be Voice over Ip or will you have telephones there? If you happen to have it only Internet based, I’d suggest you get a guy who knows a bunch about servers to avoid network issues, the computers each of your workers will have can be relatively cheap, you do not need high-end stuff for that, and the office should have a decent power scheme to avoid trouble there too.

Hi Sam,
I have an empty fully equipped call centre in Manila, Philippines (third largest English speaking country in the world). 2 offices, with 24+ seat capacity with the ability to expand.

If this is of any interest to you, just let me know and we can talk as I no longer use the offices at all.
