Any Help from Government for small businesses?

Hello

I would like to ask you guys about one thing which i have been researching for couple of hours and i could not find any information :/

Question is '' Does Australian Government or any agency or government body helping small new businesses ? like e-business or start up business which is from IT industry and using innovate technlogy ?''

I am asking because as i know in European Union they have this knd of help

for example if your company is no more then one year old and you are not more then 27 years old, have great innovation idea for business (e-business etc) you are promoting european things or have good potential for grow and employ people in the future

So union is giving you money you can apply and send after wait about 3 months and you will get 30% of the help and after couple of month you will get rest of the money ( you have one and half year to spend those money)

Any way there is much more details, main thing is does anyone know

if in Australia can we get this kind of help?

I'm gonna jump in an be cynical here....but the amount of any government grant is directly proportional to the administrative overhead + a headache

No, no just joking...I speculate (but don't really have a clue) that it's mostly a case of any grant worth going for requires you have been in business for some time and already invested in certain areas (SME kind of stuff).

If you do a search on the forum here you will find a guy who specialises in government grants (well probably a few of them). While I can't point you exactly to his name or business name (due to my brain being a sieve), I can tell you there is one about here, somewhere .

Well, I can't tell you, because I don't know. I just know him to be around here (this forum) because I have read his posts and clicked through his signature and read his website. I don't recall the specifics of his details because my memory is not that good and I have not actually needed his services
