Have you worked in the travel industry at all? Before opening your own agency I would suggest working in a Travel Agency to get a feel for it and find out how they work.

From your post you don't sound as if you're all that familiar with the structure and procedures of this industry.

I suggest you start by speaking to Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) http://www.afta.com.au/.

Perhaps look at opening a franchise? I do believe flight centre offers franchises - Franchises normally provide training, information and all you need regarding contacts in the industry.

The easiest way is to apply for an account with a consolidator such as AirTickets http://www.airtickets.com.au/. They organise everything for you, all you have to do is install a GDS such as Amadeus and off you go! Although you do need to get a Travel Agent's licence first via the Travel Compensation Fund www.tcf.org.au

Good luck.

Regards,

Nicole
