Might be worth keeping an eye on the latest kid's TV crazes - even selling some of her stuff second hand on ebay I got good prices as they weren't available over here.

Just a thought...
You're right Bridie

I tried every avenue to import licensed kids clothes, but couldn't find a supplier anywhere other than Australia, not enough profit there so I went for a different niche - plus size clothes. www.ladiesplussizeclothes.com.au

I was tempted to ask the Australian suppliers where they get their kids clothes from but somehow I don't think they'd tell me! lol

I'd still like to import them if I could find someone.

Just got one more question, if I import above $1000, understand I need to pay import tax and GST. What about I only have ABN number but not registered GST, how can I claim the GST I paid to cutoms back?

thanks for anyone helping me )
I thought about importing from China but it scared the hell out of me and bought from USA instead. I'm pretty sure that the $1000 limit is just the stock and doesn't include the freight. You can check the custom websites that others have listed here. If you want to order more, just do another order a couple of weeks after the first. I wouldn't do it too often though or customs might pick up on it. Of course, the more you buy (per order) the cheaper the freight so it's best to way the pros and cons.
Do a few (pretend) orders for various amounts and compare them to the duties and taxes payable. Might end up 6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other.

Good luck

Hi, this is an idea that I considered for a fairly long time. Though, it appears that building the initial link is a huge hurdle, though once a good link is made, most risks are reduced or so I have been informed by my friends who are in the import business from China.

Most went there met up with the manufacturer's and then imported... though this appears to be a different approach to what you are looking for..

Personally I went with the link I already had but that was not from China, and we now import Jeans and are looking for resellers here is Sydney. In case if you are interested in reselling clothing products to start you off with perhaps it may be worth your while to have a look at what we carry.

Pros and cons.. Pro, its here, all cleared, ready for inspection, and terms are negotiable..
Cons.. it may be cheaper to buy direct from manufacturers..

All the best.

Hello,

Just make sure you do the research before you bring in the goods - make sure that you have the right permissions from the right people to import and market the brands you are referring to into the Australian market.

The last thing that you want to have happen to you is someone suing you or your business for "passing off", or breach of registered trade mark.

I write a trade marks and intellectual property blog at www.trademark-lawyer.com.au, you can visit that blog if you would like to learn more about trade marks and intellectual property.
