Default Selling Business Perth WA

Hi,

I am wanting to know all the free or inexpensive ways to advertise selling a business especally in WA. I am wanting to sell our DVD Rental business quickly due to my partner and I seperating. We have already listed on Perth Gum Tree and also listed on ebay, paper and quokka. I have even created my own free website at webs.com. Does anyone have any other suggestion?

I've not had anything to do with this company directly, however, they do appear to have been around for some time and have good exposure:

I've no idea what charges they may have, but it might be worth contacting them or some other broker to see how you can fast-track what you need.

Good luck.

Stephen

Sorry to hear you have to sell your business.

I recently sold my cafe, I went through a broker but did investigate some other ways to sell during the process - here are some suggestions.....

There are a couple of low (or no) cost websites around - including http://www.businessforsale.com.au, trading post and http://www.bxbox.com.au. If you Google "Business for sale" it brings up quite a few different ones.

You could also spread the word through your networks - for example, would any of your staff / customers / friends be interested? I know some people don't like to let staff / customers know they are selling, but I ended up telling my staff and got a lead through that. It might also be worthwhile to contact some local accountants / lawyers as they may know of someone who is looking to buy a business.

Another possibility would be to call some franchisors in your industry - depending whether they already have an outlet in your area they may be interested in yours (particularly if you have a good location, customers etc).

Just as an aside, it can take a while to go through the process of selling (it was 5 months before I had even one offer on my cafe), so I'd suggest you have all your financials etc. in order and make it as easy as possible for someone looking at the business to make a quick decision.

Anyway, there are just a couple of my thoughts.

Good luck, hope it all goes well.

Cheers,
Melissa

Is there no way you can buy out your partner for a mutually agreeable sum?

Thanks to everyones good tips. I am afraid my partner cannot buy me out either which makes it a bit more difficult. I have had a few nibbles so far cause we are an inderpendent store (no franchising fees) and also I am selling for very cheap (between $15- $30K) so less than what the stock is worth. I am doing this with the hope that someone will pick it up faster and I can move on.
I have made my own website to sell it on webs.com

I tell all my clients to engage a broker. There are bad brokers and good brokers, interview a few, keep costs low and they should move it quickly for you as long as you get a good one.

Hi Swazza,

In my experience the free websites will create little joy when selling a business. I guess that is why they are FREE!

I am affiliated with a website called www.business-trader.com.au which is now Australia's most visited business for sale website. We charge a minimal fee for our services, however you will not find a business for sale website in Australia that ranks for more search terms than Business Trader!

I hpe this helps?
